Many years ago I had some camera equipment and did amateur photography. There was this one “stuck up” girl at work no one could get near, but she kept shying up to me and the camera, mugging whenever she could. Now for the “Dear Penthouse” moment. She was a friend but she got her own apartment and wanted to show it to me. It took her all of 3 minutes to be naked and mugging for the camera on her bed. I learned that day that girls LOVE the attention a camera brings. Girls would literally jump I front of the camera at every opportunity. I was doing scenic shoots in England and loving the countryside but it turned out I had more photos of girls than I had of countryside. Puppies and babies maybe chick magnets but cameras are the supermagnet.
I don’t get that. Someone gets a camera out, and I’m GONE!
I usually had an SLR (way back when) or DSLR when they came around. Nothing even close to that ever happened to me.
I prefer video since I am an ex TV guy. Every now and then I hired a model though and all things kept strictly professional. All said and done, I rather work with machines, animals, food, and objects in general. I’ve had the best success with that.
Sometimes I go with my wife to her 5Ks and other torture to me events. Some good candids come from those.
What irks me is people who look right at you and seem oblivious or downright ignorant and have to walk right in front. Can’t or won’t go around. They seem to be the dominant type. A considerate person is rare these days.
