I haven’t seen that much faith expressed in Italy when I’ve visited - mostly because I haven’t attended too many religious services. But if you watch early Fellini movies - particularly “Nights of Cabiria” you will see some deeply moving expressions of faith in Rome. Of course, that was long ago.

And of course, you must remember that it was only a movie. It would be a mistake to judge what Rome's faith is (was) really like, based on Fellini's fantasized account.
