Having read through the article several times, the mangled wording has me convinced that the article is a bad translation of a foreign-language article. Either that, or the article is a retranslation back into English from a foreign publication.
Change the phrase "second trinity" to "second person of the Trinity" (i.e. Mary replaces Jesus' position as Redeemer) and the article reads much clearer. The key phrase in the article is here:
Pope Francis said the Virgin Mary is one with the church. Without her Jesus Christ would not have been born and introduced into Christian lives. Without the Virgin Mary there would be no Mother Church....Now The End Begins claims Pope Francis' reflection on the Virgin Mary suggests people's hope is not Jesus Christ but the Mother Church.
The original from the Vatican
Notice how every single Catholic who has posted on the thread so far has not at all addressed the substance of the article and refuted any of it, but rather engaged in pejoratives of *hate*, *anti*, *bigot* instead?
Must be the article hit close to home. If they had anything to refute it with, they would have used it. Since they didn’t, they resorted to attacking the messenger thinking they can invalidate the message through defamation of character.
