Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
I loved watching him paint. The kids and grands enjoyed his little clouds, the trees, etc.
Catholics admit to praying to Mary.
Show us where in Scripture that praying to ANYONE for ANYTHING is sanctioned by God.
That’s a sweet story! I would have told him, as I tell my own, that it was His death on that cross that saved us. I’m sorry about your mother. You can continue to pray for her soul. God Bless you!
You could at least google Grandma Moses videos - an actually good artist who paints Americana rather than the schmaltz put out by Ross.
Redemption does not stop with Jesus' death. The resurrection is essential.
1 Corinthians 15:3-5 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
1 Corinthians 15:12-17 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
Ack! I just realized I messed up my words. *sigh* I do apologize. I did not mean to say Adoration is NOT the same as worship. I meant to say veneration/honor is not the same as worship/adoration. I should just get back to the kitchen and stop posting. I truly am sorry for the confusion. I’m going to go laugh at myself now!
I know about Grandma Moses. She was great but I enjoyed Bob Ross . If you don’t, that is fine. At least we were watching a good clean family show instead of other stuff.
Catholics really need to stop that meme. It makes them look really bad. Let's go look at just a couple of those. From: http://www.marypages.com/PrayerstoMary.htm
Holy Mary, help those in need, give strength to the weak, comfort the sorrowful, pray for God's people, assist the clergy, intercede for religious. Mary all who seek your help experience your unfailing protection. Amen.
My Queen, My Mother, I offer myself entirely to thee. And to show my devotion to thee, I offer thee this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me as thy property and possession. Amen
I liked Ross also. I have one of his paintings we watched him paint. I liked the style so much I learned how to paint like that and have been doing it now for many years.
I didn’t say it stopped there. But essentially, without His suffering and death, there would be no burial and raising from the dead. He died for our sins.
But why look at dreck when you can look at beautiful art? Train your eye, dear lady! It’s not difficult but it takes getting over years of prejudice and terrible paintings. You would be giving your grandchildren a legacy of beautiful images that have astounded the giants of art history. Art is the very foundation of Western Civilization. All of this could be destroyed within a generation if Moslims enter Europe.
Good for you. He inspired many people to do that. That is not one of my talents. : (
Thank you!
There is no painting that can compare to that...
Here is an article by Mary Ann Collins (A Former Catholic Nun)

Drecck? Just because you don’t like it its dreck? Are you sure you don’t tend toward the liberal side?
I don't think there too much of God's word revealed in Catholic art...You guys claim that people can and do come to Jesus just by looking at your stained glass windows...
I have yet to see a picture depicting a sinner being born again, at least to the point where a person could look at the picture and 'get it'...
Fact is, the pictures are useless aids to worship unless there is someone there explaining the pictures as they are seen...And if you are capable of explaining the pictures, you're cabable of explaining the gospel, the scriptures...
God says the power is in his words, not pictures...
Not according to God's Word - but for some people praying for the dead makes them feel better.
If you do that, please don't interpret my statement as a personal attack.
Put some facts where your mouth is...Prove it!!!
Yeah, us knuckle dragging proddies aren’t sophisticated like the Catholics, dontcha know?
If we’d get with the program, we’d be just as good as they are.
