Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

It is the only book in Christianity. What others do you think belongs on a level with it?

you STILL haven't answered a very easy question

You're right. And I'm not going to until either you, the OP, or someone else from the Protestant contingent acknowledges that according to their confession of faith that I, as a baptized Christian who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that I will not be, what was the phrase? Oh yes, "bound yourself to those who murder, rape, torture and mutilate God's people and you will share in their destruction when He returns to establish his 1000 year reign," no matter what they think of my views.

For we do not put our faith in men. It's hard to see any truth in that.

At Mass once the priest told us about his mother's funeral. She loved the song "Amazing Grace." The priest told us how he altered the words of the song when it played at the service because his mother " was not a 'wretch'."

The congregation swooned for the priest's sensitivity and loyalty to his mommy. "Isn't he a special son?"

Hook, line, and sinker: these people went away with no comprehension whatsoever of the tragic lie they were told.

I expect one of you to ask me something like: "What about Jim (this) or Joel (that)?"

My personal answer: I don't trust those people. I trust Jesus. When I am taught something (by someone), I measure it against the STANDARD. I do not put my faith in men, not something I was told before, not some tradition, and not a picture, painting, statue, feeling, or artifact.

We all ought to be like the Bereans.

If you think this is a personal attack, you've misunderstood me.

It’s the foundation of Christianity and I didn’t say there was another book on that level. I was simply saying that some Christians seem to limit themselves to only one book and can only appreciate art that involves paintings of dogs playing poker.

>>it was still the body and blood of Jesus Christ.<<

Genesis 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Deuteronomy 12:23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. 24 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

But in the end, me and every other Catholic on here just shrug our shoulders. For we do not put our faith in men.

Sure but when Luther actually married a woman.......

No. What I want is the Body of Christ united. Division is scandalous, harmful and leads souls away from Christ and into Hell. Unfortunately, Protestantism is a major cause of that. It spreads the lie that you can be your own authority on what is true. You decide.

Will we be united again? I don't know. Perhaps it will never happen. Perhaps the current state of affairs will endure until the end of the world. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. But I do maintain the Protestantism, it's theology, the philosophy it has spawned has wrecked western civilization and its people to such a degree that it cannot muster up the courage or conviction to defend itself from Islam.

But then, perhaps the Blood of the Martyrs, those who have come before us and those who have recently departed from us will sow the seed for a conversion of the hearts and minds of the Islamic people. It will take a miracle. I entrust that our Blessed Mother.

Hope it was worth it. 500 years later and you've lost Europe to the Muslim horde.

If we lose to the muslim hordes this time it will because of stuff like this......

Pope kissing Koran

YOUR pope kissing the koran. Fits right in with YOUR Catechism of the Catholic church.

http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P29.HTM

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

Pictures of idolatry and people breaking one of God’s Ten Commandments are *beautiful pictures*?

Says a lot about Catholicism and the Catholic mindset to laud sin like that.

Based on what criteria do you make that assumption? You have something besides thinking you're reading someone's mind?

I probably read as much, if not more than most on here. I have over 200 books on my iPad. I love art. Are you mind reading with that statement?
God’s creation is the best art anyone can see. I took my daughter and 2 grands on a train trip through the NW Nat’l Parks in 07. No one can doubt the existence of God after seeing His artwork. Just seeing the sky, land, etc is great. We were blessed when we went and so glad we did. The train company closed the next year. Ah, memories. How precious they are.

Only to fellow pagans. To followers of Christ they are an abomination just like God calls it.

Great point! Why didn't Jesus address the Bishop!?! Or the Pope for that matter?!? Doesn't he understand the "chain of command"?

Actually he does...and he hate it. It is called "Nicolaitanism".

I regret to inform you but Europe has already been lost. Christendom in Europe has aborted, contracepted, homosexualized, euthanized and relativized itself out of existence. Winner: Islam. By default. Without a shot being fired. All thanks to one idea whose relevance wasn't understood at that time. I decide. What is true versus what is preferred. And we're next.

But go ahead and keep posting that picture if it helps you sleep at night.

My remarks were not directed at you in particular but some protestants who abhor the great art of civilization. Skies are made by God; great art is made by man working through God. In a world filled with cruelty, it amazes me that a Michelangelo, Titian, Giorgione, Giotto, Caravaggio can reveal God's word through their paintings. It saddens me that some American protestants cannot appreciate these works.

You've heard that saying..."What you do speaks so loud I can't hear what you say."? You were the one who claimed "Protestants" couldn't help but convert to Roman Catholicism if they would "honor" Mary as RCs do, didn't you? Let me ask you this, if you take out the "honor" of Mary within Roman Catholicism, would it still BE Christian?

No person here has truthfully dishonored Mary. Roman Catholics get their knickers in a knot over the subject because people don't "honor" Mary in the same way as they do. That is hardly dishonoring her! If you cannot show where any of the Apostles taught or instructed believers in what they are to believe about the mother of Jesus, then all you really have is what fallible humans developed over time. It is for that reason alone that we SHOULD judge the doctrines and dogmas BY scripture to see if they are true.

Admit it, some RCs are "disturbed" because non-RC Christians don't believe as they do about Mary. It isn't really about honoring or dishonoring her, but Roman Catholics' insistence that "real" Christians have to be Roman Catholic.
