Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
Hi Elsie,
I was responding to the incessant “Mary worship” I’m reading about on this thread and of which Catholics are unfortunately blind to and if they would read for instance Hebrews 11 there is a host of saints mentioned by name and their faith to accomplish great things in Jesus’ Name. Mary is not in that list.
I have peace and I never said a rosary in my life God is the Answer.
Deuteronomy 4:19 and Malachi 1:11
Maybe what he MEANT to say??? ;o)
Not every angry person asks for Mary’s intercession. If EVERYONE prayed the rosary, for instance, Christ would grant us peace.
God does not want the babbling of repetative prayers.
Matthew 6:7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Don’t much care who sculpted it or what drivel Catholics have fallen for. Point is that most Catbolic symbols, rituals, vestments, monuments etc have their origin in paganism. God said don’t use that stuff trying to serve Him but Catholics do it anyway.
Kinda OT but I have been reading. A ghost show came on. A man on there prayed to Mary for protection. Why not go to he source, Jesus? The show is The Haunted, I think.
The rosary is nothing more than Jewelry...it has no power. Just one more thing to be ritualistic with... and be ‘repetitive’ with ‘canned prayers’ you can’t think of yourself.
If repeating the prayers in a set order is what matters you could simply record them and set up a playlist on your iPod.
God wants us to come to him and know him. He gave us the “Our Father” as a framework about how to pray.
Our Father in Heaven, your name is Holy. - Acknowledgement of Him and His Holiness.
Your Kingdom is coming and your will is done on Earth and in Heaven. - Acknowledgement of His Authority.
Give us this day our daily bread. - Bring to Him our needs.
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. - Ask for mercy and understand you must give mercy to others so that He will forgive you.
Lead us not into tempation but deliver us from evil. - We should ask God to keep us from the inclination to sin when we have the opportunity and keep us from the opportunity to sin when we have the inclination.
Jesus said “Pray in this way.” He didn’t say repeat this mystical mantra a set number of times and you’ll prosper. It’s supposed to be a framework and an example, not a magic spell.
That entire thing is based on conjecture that the Father or Jesus authorized a queen. Not one passage of scripture indicates that to be the case. Just another made up construct of carnal fallible man.
Please show where you find that in scripture. Or is that another made up thing?
Maybe you're confusing the Rosary with the prosperity gospel so prevalent in Protestantism.
If it's any consolation to you, the Church doesn't teach that praying a Rosary will bring prosperity. In fact, as a life-long Catholic, I have never met an individual Catholic who does. Nor is a Catholic required to ever pray the Rosary.
No! They’re just “venerating” the saint!
Just like when they place a crown on the head of a statue of Mary or build a shrine with her image where they prostrate themselves!
That’s not worship at all; that’s “veneration!” There’s a huge difference!
Do I need to explain this is sarcasm?
ROTFLOL..oh my gosh I lost it reading that!
Jesus told us to go directly before.the throne of the Father in Jesus name. When we do it’s as if Jesus Himself is before the throne.
Why is it that JPX2011 and others similar to him on this thread cannot say the name Jesus, but continue to refer to Him as “Christ” which is merely His title and not his Name??
It is worship. Idolitry pure and simple.
