Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
Please show where I did that. Oh, when you go back to that post you may want to pay close attention at the end where that statement came from and who made it.
Protestantism: the perfect faith for the "master faithful". Here's to hoping that they will soon transcend their own humanity. How gnostic.
No wonder we live in a culture that says kill the less than perfect in the womb. Thanks protestants!
Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign;
Not at all. I have the patience of a saint when dealing with the ignorant. I noticed that is a quality not shared amongst protestants, however. They always seem quick with the sarcastic wit which is ultimately an expression of contempt for those they deem beneath them. Ultimately it demonstrates the secular nature of protestant thought and belief, which can be ascribed to the demonic.
You know I feel incredibly sad for these people following a fake religion. Jesus is the answer in the world today. Need to look up the rest of that song. I keep forgetting to get the album of pictures my late daughter took of all those bones piled up. She died in 2004 but maybe she wrote where they were taken.
No wonder we live in a culture that says kill the less than perfect in the womb. Thanks protestants!
You really ought to thank the Catholic Convents who support infantcide. By the way, isn’t Nancy Pelosi one of yours?
“She explained she believes that in times of social crisis, ‘The maternal figure rises up as the one who will resolve the issue and the one who should be controlled as a sort of collective exorcism, because they are the scapegoats’.
You Catholics are obsessed with your “maternal figures.”
=============================================================
Do you believe God gave us the "Ten Commandments", including the one that says, "Honor thy father and thy mother..."
If so, do you believe we should obey that commandment from God?
Also, do you believe that a loving mother can love all her children, or does she have to stop loving all the others when she loves one of them?
He's too cynical to think he can ride that thing. :-)
Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God,
Ultimately it demonstrates the secular nature of protestant thought and belief, which can be ascribed to the demonic.
Goddess worship is part of your “demonic” realm.
My focus is on Christ. You refuse to comment on the mary fixation. You never answer whether you can have salvation without mary.
Just post these words “I have salvation through Jesus and Mary is not necessary.” Then I’ll concede.
Am I asking too much; would that compromise the object of your faith?
LOL, you know I have to laugh whenever a protestants brings up a Catholic political figure as some sort of exception that disproves the rule or anyone else for the matter. It's the protestant equivalent of holding up a crucifix to ward of vampires. It has that childish quality to it.
In actuality what it does do is say more about them than it does the Catholic faith. It highlights the inherent nationalism that is tied into protestant belief. I mean I know we're on a predominantly political website, but we are having a religious conversation. Makes one wonder if there is a Jesus outside of the United States of America.
My Protestant friends are just as pro-life as you are. My nephew was born with a birth defect and a cousin’s daughter is a Down’s child. Both are wonderful people today. God made them the way they are and they have brought much love and happiness to our family. Dale Evans helped with bringing Down’s babies to the country’s attention way back in the 1950’s. When Robin was born, some drs said babies like her should be gunned down and they were kept hidden away.
Wow! A Catholic nun promoting abortion? Just wow!
Reply to my 1330. Can you do it?
Everybody is watching.
Wow! A Catholic nun promoting abortion? Just wow!
Yeah, they don’t like to talk about that. I recall a priest and some nuns cutting themselves and bleeding on missile silos in Wyoming.
There are a lot of crazy-liberal catholics.
Come on buddy,
Just say “mary is not necessary for my salvation; Jesus alone is sufficient.”
You say your faith rests on Jesus so this shouldn’t be difficult.
It all boils down to what you really believe.
How sad.
You mean like this one?
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
You should at least defend your faith. Can’t you even do that? Martyrs die for their beliefs. Won’t you simply state your arguement?
I’ll answer if you challenge my commitment to Jesus. Isn’t your mary worthy?
You have to prove its goddess worship first. Like I said earlier, correlation does not equal causation. Why should I take anything a protestant says seriously when they engage in such a fundamental error of logic.
When a protestant conflates what a thing looks like to what a thing is then they have absolutely no credibility.
My focus is on Christ. You refuse to comment on the mary fixation. You never answer whether you can have salvation without mary.
Fixation is a term based solely on a characterization of your own determination. What authority has deemed it a fixation other than yourself? Belief for a protestant is like watching DirecTV. There's 500 channels and if you don't like something you simply switch the channel.
Just post these words I have salvation through Jesus and Mary is not necessary. Then Ill concede
You should just concede anyway. Mary was necessary. Her Yes to God echoes throughout eternity. She chose, of her own free will to become the Mother of God and bring our Savior into the world. As such she is the Co-redemptrix and the Mediatrix. These are not difficult concepts and should be believed by all.
