If I see something I do not understand, I research and make up my mind from the evidence not what someone says. God bless.

While this is basically how the church began, this allows that the magisterium could be wrong, and assurance of t Truth realized despite them, by personal seeking. Thus faithful converted RCs are not to do this, as determination and assurance of Truth is based upon the premise of the assured veracity of Rome.

Catholic doctrine, as authoritatively proposed by the Church, should be held as the supreme law; for, seeing that the same God is the author both of the Sacred Books and of the doctrine committed to the Church....it follows that all interpretation is foolish and false which...is opposed to the doctrine of the Church. (Providentissimus Deus; http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_18111893_providentissimus-deus_en.html)

It follows that the Church is essentially an unequal society, that is, a society comprising two categories of per sons, the Pastors and the flock...the one duty of the multitude is to allow themselves to be led, and, like a docile flock, to follow the Pastors. - VEHEMENTER NOS, an Encyclical of Pope Pius X promulgated on February 11, 1906.

..in all cases the immediate motive in the mind of a Catholic for his reception of them is, not that they are proved to him by Reason or by History, but because Revelation has declared them by means of that high ecclesiastical Magisterium which is their legitimate exponent.” — John Henry Newman, “A Letter Addressed to the Duke of Norfolk on Occasion of Mr. Gladstone's Recent Expostulation.” 8. The Vatican Council lhttp://www.newmanreader.org/works/anglicans/volume2/gladstone/section8.html

“All that we do [as must be patent enough now] is to submit our judgment and conform our beliefs to the authority Almighty God has set up on earth to teach us; this, and nothing else.” “He is as sure of a truth when declared by the Catholic Church as he would be if he saw Jesus Christ standing before him and heard Him declaring it with His Own Divine lips.” —“Henry G. Graham, "What Faith Really Means", (Nihil Obstat:C. SCHUT, S. T.D., Censor Deputatus, Imprimatur: EDM. CANONICUS SURMONT, D.D.,Vicarius Generalis. WESTMONASTERII, Die 30 Septembris, 1914 ) ]

The mere fact that the Church teaches the doctrine of the Assumption as definitely true is a guarantee that it is true. ” — Karl Keating, Catholicism and Fundamentalism (San Francisco: Ignatius, 1988), p. 275.[http://www.catholic.com/tracts/immaculate-conception-and-assumption]

How can anyone believe that? I don’t understand. God gave us a brain for a reason so we should use it. Those beliefs seem more like a cult than a religion. I am not thinking too clearly today so I will have to think on this. Thanks.

But I believe the Scripture is sufficient for telling us the way of salvation in Christ just as you do. I think perhaps you have me confused with someone else.

Peace,

How long can you read on a full battery?

Do you have a solar charger?

You would think some are smart enough to research on their own.

It is my findings; after YEARS of experience here; that many do not WANT to do the research; and sure as heck hope that YOU don't want to either.

I'm afraid that Google® and others have so greatly simplified searching for info, that MANY kingdoms are going to be toppled by the "increase in knowledge".

That Jesus was born on December 25, died on good friday and raised on easter sunday.
Those ‘facts’ are not found in scripture.

Some sure are, and no doubt will be shown since you've made the claim they are NOT in Scripture.

It amazes me how you think you know so much about every facet of the Catholic Church, when in reality you have no clue what you’re talking about. Your War and Peace copy and pastes are tiresome.

Good!

I wish that ALL of the things I post will be copied by someone; for I’ve no clue as to how much longer I’ll be around.

King James was a notorious sodomite, so we know what he really thought about the word of God.

Do you post stuff like this just to show how silly you can look?

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]

Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.

I think y’all are just upset that he tells the truth and backs it up. Do your own research and not just on Catholic sites.

If by “he” you are talking about the homosexual King James he needed a Bible in his own hands. It’s a disgrace to have a Bible floating around that is named for a notorious sodomite and that is exactly what King James was. An unrepentant sodomite.

God didn’t have a thing to do with Martin Luther attempting to destroy his church and God certainly was weeping when the blasphamous King James version of His Bible corrupted scripture and has allowed error to be taught for the last 500 years. In the end all that follow the false faith of protestantism will have to answer to their maker.

I learned how to really research when I started genealogy. I would find data saying the kids were born before the parents. Kinda impossible. I can find anything I want to. My battery last for about 6 hours. I do not have a solar charger but my daughter does. If I am inside, I sit where I can plug it in. Love my ipad. I have over 200 books on it. I have bad eyes so it is easier to read on it since I can increase the size.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights, dear Springfield Reformer!

Probably of greater importance than the Vulgate was the commitment to the Byzantine Greek text form, which in general is very supportive of the KJV New Testament. Most modern translations are derived from either the Alexandrian text form or the Byzantine, and have very little if any reliance on the Vulgate.

I chose the Old Testament rather than the New Testament to illustrate that things get lost in translation, i.e. Hebrew > Greek > English versus Hebrew > English.

Thank God for the Dead Sea Scrolls! They strongly attest to the faithfulness of the Masoretic Hebrew Bible (Schiffman et al.)

The Song of Moses (Deuteronomy 32) is of particular interest to me because it will be sung in heaven along with the Song of the Lamb (Revelation 15:3) - and contains prophesy related to Gentiles being received while Israel is blinded until the fulness of Gentiles comes in (Romans 11).

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. - Deut 32:28

I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. - Romans 11:11

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.- Romans 11:25

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. - Revelation 15:3

To God be the glory, not man, never man.
