Envy is a self-interest. Prosperity gospel is about self-interest.
A prosperity message is good for maybe a sermon or two per year — not all the time. How often does Joel preach on hell? We know Jesus did. How often does he peach on sin? We know Jesus did. I really don’t know because I don’t follow him.
Adrian Rodgers wasn’t a fan of what I refer to as the “prosperity gospel.” I heard one of his sermons just the other day where he discussed it. I’ve listened to a lot of great ministers but they don’t seem to focus on it either. Billy Graham certainly doesn’t seem to focus on what we get here on this earth.
I’ve got missionary friends in Africa. You think God wants them to be rich. Personally, I don’t believe it matters to them. And I don’t believe abundant life means worldly things.
Sorry but we’re just going to have to disagree.
Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2).
You don't like the gospel which includes prosperity even though it is divinely inspired Scripture. It is God showing the extent of his love for you and you reject it. I know that saddens his heart. Nevertheless your rejection of Scripture and the extent of his love and care for you does not change the truth of the gospel of the grace of Christ revealed in Scripture. He that has an ear, let him hear.
Amen!
Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Our heavenly Father knows what we NEED.
He never promises or claims to be obligated to give us what we WANT.
