I do understand that the OT is fullof types and shadows. I also understand that God has clearly said he would bring physical ISrael back into the land and in the end of days, would save them by revealing Jesus to them(Zech 12:10). As for the new covenant, remember that it is a new covenant with Israel and Judah Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: This promise has been kept, but the majority of israel has yet to realize it...

Since the majority of the true Israel is made up by Gentiles, I think they have realized it. when a Jew becomes baptized into Christ, they are grafted back in and become part of the true Israel, the Church.
