Separated at birth?
My church plays several contemporary Christian tunes during the worship service, including Beautiful Things and it’s the only song I wish they would not play. Headache inspiring.
That has nothing to do with the current controversy. I just don’t like the song. The message is okay but the tune is just annoying.
We used to play it also. A couple of the musicians said it was really an odd song to play, some things in it that most songs don’t do...musically, not really sure...not a musician, so I don’t really get it, but I do like the song.
One time we had a visitor at church and she saw his CD in the bookstore. She mentioned that she was his aunt, and if I remember right she was from Michigan...where Bell is from. Not sure if that is where the Gungor’s live now.
“was the earth created in six literal days?”
What does the word “day” mean in the Bible. It may mean a 24 hour day or a period longer than that. The Bible gives meanings that a “day” is longer than 24 hours in different contexts.
But it doesn’t matter. The fact is that God DID create the Earth and heavens.
He is big enough to have done it in six 24 days; or 6 “days” that were longer than 24 hours.
God did it; it was His choice how long He took to do it or how He did it.
I’m glad to hear that what their real beliefs are have come out. There might very well be more like that, though, that they aren’t sharing.
But it doesnt matter. The fact is that God DID create the Earth and heavens.
Also literal can be according to how it is read and what the reader chooses to include or not include.
Theyve made up their own religion.
That's the problem. Nobody is defining what *taking the Bible "literally"* means.
Does it mean that there is no allegory, metaphor, parables, poetry, songs, etc and they all must be read as being *literally* true?
Or does it mean that the Bible is inerrant and Truth not not everything has to be read as being literal.
IMO, it's a phrase that's not even worth the time arguing over.
The ignoramus doesn’t even know what the bible says and he’s going to correct someone??? Must be a Catholic...
ONLY the Catholic church is authorized to correctly interpret the bible...those who do not believe it at all and those who have chosen to edit it and delete certain books, are not qualified to interpret anything. One tiny example....Christ said "take this and eat of it....this is My body".....Catholics figure that He meant just that.....others think of it as a memorial hunk of bread....Pathetic.
They went out of their way to bash “fundamentalists”
“God, our mother”
It sounds they have swerved into cult paganism
A day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.
God is infinite.
I saw that, it's right after the title page and before the page that just says "To Mom the father" and under that it says "Any similarities to actual people and events is purely coincidence"
//sarcasm
Gungor mentions believing in the resurrection of Jesus but he denies a literal Noah. Jesus however said,”As it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the Days of the coming of the Son of Man!”
If he believes in a literal Jesus( God in Flesh) , who cites the existence of Noah, then he must, to be consistent acknowledge that Noah also existed! To deny that Noah existed is to deny the words of Jesus!
