Somebody is straining to find problems. What I like about modern Christian music is it addresses real life issues and turns them over to God - like the Psalms. Much of old hymndom is one dimensional lyrically and cumbersome musically.

You make a good point. I will say this….there is too much touchy feely “can’t we all get along” type songs which are not really scripturally correct - and then there’s the scam of some Christian groups.

There is a very prominent group that runs an absolute scam with World Vision. It’s sad really.

The problem with far too much of Christian contemporary music is that it puts the seeker ahead of the Savior.

The theology in most of the great hymns of the Christian era is simply better than what is being done today. When church becomes more of a marketing exercise than a real worship experience which honors God, it fails.

Cumbersome Musically!!!!????

I see these praise and worship bands with the leaders singing songs in such a high tenor and with such a hard to follow beat that hardly anyone can sing them comfortably. They think everyone should be his or her own Christian rock star and are blind to the what the regular church goers can really comfortably sing....roughly in a range from about 60 hz to 400hz if male or 120hz to 880hz if female. They all seem love f sharp major or f sharp minor, keys of d and G as well singing songs written in a narrow range near the tops of their tessituras
so that no one can find a comfortable octave range to sing in without constantly switching to a lower octave and back to the original octave just to stay in tune! For some who can instinctively harmonize in the older hymn styles, forget about doing it with these newer songs!

If God had meant Christians to sing like individual rock stars, he would have given us all built in telescoping fender guitars!

This is the type song you mean. It has a lot of depth in it. But this is not an ordinary pair of singers, they live a Christian life. But do C & W more old style. This is off their Inspirational Album. Ms Joey just had her first and last baby girl Indiana Boone, then it was discovered she had cervical cancer and had to have a complete hysterectomy and do the Chemo thing. Indiana is a Special Needs baby. She will go on tour with them when they resume it.
