Thanks,Daniel. Sounds like a cult to me. I watched a program about 2 men who led groups which were cults. I just do not understand that. Aren’t they able to think for themselves?
No. When I was growing up the priests words were law. What he said went.
He represented the Catholic church. He had the education and training in spiritual matters.
He had the (allegedly) power to bind or retain your sins so you did NOT want to cross him. You wanted him on your side.
You did not challenge what he or any nuns even ever said.
It just isn't an option either by training or because nobody is willing to risk putting their eternal destination on the line like that.
When you are raised believing that salvation is through them/the church, you don't question, you submit and bow, and when they jump you do it without even asking how high or for how long.
And read some of the posts on the RF and you'll see the defense of the indefensible. It;s Catholic talking points all the way and you can't even show them out of Scripture because it's so ingrained into them that they cannot understand it or interpret it correctly that it's like the deer in the headlights syndrome. Their eyes glaze over and their mind must go blank.
