Although it is largely forgotten today, evangelical Protestantism was in support of Roe v. Wade”.

Horse hockey.

Maybe mainline Protestantism, but not Evangelicals.

And if it weren't for Catholics voting dem, Roe v. Wade would not have been passed.

Operation Rescue.

I know a Baptist pastor who was jailed for contempt of court for refusing to tell the judge he'd follow the restraining order to stay away from the abortion clinic.

“And if it weren’t for Catholics voting dem, Roe v. Wade would not have been passed”

Your ignorance of Roe v. Wade is telling. Your hatred of the Catholic Church is abnormal and not healthy.

Of the 9 justices of the Supreme Court that voted abortion into law there was exactly ONE Catholic sitting on the bench.

1. Warren Burger was Presbyterian
2. William O. Douglas was Presbyterian
3. Lewis Powell was Presbyterian
4. Potter Stewart was Episcopalian
5. Byron White was Episcopalian
6. Thurgood Marshall was Episcopalian
7. Harry Blackmun was Methodist
8. William Rehnquist was Lutheran
9. William Brennan was Catholic

Byron White, appointed by JFK, and William Rehnquist, appointed by Nixon were the only dissenting votes.

A very PROTESTANT Supreme Court gave this country abortion on demand. And yes evangelicals after the vote were in favor of it. Catholics stood alone in protesting abortion. It’s nice to see they have help now, but in the early days it was Catholics and no one else.

I’m not sure why I got trashed with a Roe vs. Wade question, but you handled it ably, thanks.

As for your very pertinent observation about coming to the Church versus coming to Jesus, that’s really the bottom line here. Jesus said He was the Gate, and to come to him. The Church says that it is the Door to get to Jesus who is the Gate.

Which means, of course, that the Church has to deny personal experiences of both God and Jesus as heresy, if they have not been reviewed, judged, interpreted, applied and sanctioned by the Church. In fact, Pope Francis confirmed this just the other day.

As a result, I would like to announce that I am the Toll Booth Operator, to the Door, to the Gate. And my fees are small, as long as they are steady. And I take any currency, including Bitcoin and PayPal.

Roe v. Wade was a challenge to an already existing statute in Texas Roe v. Wade case brief

Brief Fact Summary. Appellant Jane Roe, a pregnant mother who wished to obtain an abortion, sued on behalf of all woman similarly situated in an effort to prevent the enforcement of Texas statutes criminalizing all abortions except those performed to save the life of the mother.

I really wish prots would learn some actual history instead of making it up as they go along.
