Paul seems a little shady to me.

I have wrestled with that question for forty years, many things Paul said make so much sense so it is hard to imagine him being anything but what he said.

But then it is hard to believe this is the same man that spends so much time talking about himself and also having nothing good to say about the Apostles chosen by Jesus.

So I don`t know but I believe Jesus said all we need to hear.

RE: also having nothing good to say about the Apostles chosen by Jesus.

The 8th Chapter of the book of ACTS states thusly,

26 When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus. 28 So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him. 30 When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened.

So, if Paul was a fake Christian, why would he be commissioned by the believers to Tarsus?

Then there was the Council in Jerusalem that Paul and his Ministry partner, Barnabas attended ( See Acts 15 ).

Peter and all the other Christian Elders were there. They LISTENED attentively to Paul and Barnabas’s testimony about their missionary journey and in the end, it says:

22 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas ( Acts 15:22 ).

Why would they do that if Paul was not accepted?

Let’s not forget, Peter, one of the LEADERS of the apostles wrote endearingly about Paul and ENDORSED his letters and compared them to the other scripture (see 2 Peter 3:14-16)

If Paul had nothing good to say about the other apostles, why would Peter endorse Paul?

So I don`t know but I believe Jesus said all we need to hear.

Then you mean only the "red letters," which is absurd, as He Himself said He had many more things to reveal, while even the red letters were not written by Him, but the Holy Spirit who sometimes rephrased or otherwise expanded or contracted what He said, as seen by the accounts of the Lord's trial.

Moreover, the gospels do not provide clarity in many things, and beg for interpretation, which the rest of the NT works to provide, and without it cults (and Rome) would have a field day.

And they are very sparse on things such as ecclesiology and eschatology.
