Yes, he said he gave a silent blessing. He also gave an audible, vocal blessing. "...each one of you is a child of God. May God bless all of you.”

You're all hot and bothered because you don't think he gave the right blessing. Which do you think will do more spiritual good? Nattering on and on about the calibration of the wording--- a simple "May God bless all of you" --- or just bowing your head and praying a blessing for them all?

Have you done that? I recommend it.

Matthew 11:18-19
"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."

I think maybe he blessed impulsively. Good people do that. My mother did that.

The longer quote is out there for everyone to see. It’s fine, I have no problem with that. I restated the part that you ignored.

I’d like to see the thread return to its origins myself.

No, you ignored the part that said, “I give this silent blessing”.

I bless people fairly promiscuously. I admit that. I am grateful for blessings, too: if they were rightly intended, they will do me good; if they were sarcastic or heretical or in some other way defective, they will do me no harm.

That's a very good way to look at it.

I have been blessed my many through words, through hugs, through writings.
What’s the big deal?

Some people WILL a big deal about gnat droppings in pepper. That is, apparently, who they are.

I keep a list of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It helps me remember who to discuss with, whom to ignore and whom to laugh at pray for.

Let's go back to the original article that started this thread, if you scroll down you'll find this:

Is Pope Francis humbly acknowledging the episcopal ministry of Archbishop Justin and affirming the validity of Anglican Holy Orders? Is he recognising that we are neither heretics (as it still says in Westminster Cathedral) nor 'separated brethren', but part of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church?

It appears so. For he has previously opened his heart to Protestant Evangelicals, and as Cardinal Bergoglio he knelt at a Protestant prayer meeting to receive the blessings of several Protestant pastors:

emphasis mine.

Canon 32
It is unlawful to receive the “blessings” of heretics, for they are rather “follies” than “blessings”. .

Canon 33
No one shall join in prayers with heretics or schismatics.

1. No one should be allowed an opinion unless its a positive one?

Did I say that? I didn't and you know it.
However, I AM free to gainsay WHATEVER anyone says, positive or negative, as you are.

2. Who’s intolerant?

Who cares? I don't.
Do you?

“You compared giving a pectoral cross to some protestant as the same as giving a rosary to some protestant.”

No, I compared the effect - which is nil. No one has a change of station in life in regard to their soul because of an object given him by someone else.

“You’re comparison is wrong.”

Nope. My comparison was perfect. That’s why you can’t refute it.

“Every Catholic should know better.”

No Catholic can know better than the truth - and that’s exactly what I posted.

I have observed that some people feel insulted if you say you'll pray for them. (Not always, but often enough so I noticed.) They feel that it's an act of arrogance to give a prayer or blessing; they think the blesser or pray-er is implying that he or she is a spiritual superior, and the recipient a spiritual inferior.

In other words, that the person saying "I'll pray for you" is also saying under their breath, "...you moral retard."

It puzzles me, as I have always felt grateful if a person said they'd pray for me. Even a person of a different religion: I think, "Well, I don't believe as you do, but I know you mean well."

Am I wrong?

======================================

NO, you are NOT wrong.
You are as right as rain.

No. It is you who cannot refute the Catholic Encyclopedia’s definition of the pectoral cross and Pope Benedict’s abuse of such.

First, you imply I am a sedevacantist and now you imply I’m a liar. How charitable of you.

I, however, think anybody who does not accept Catholic canons to be a heretic.

Wrong, again. The effect of giving a pectoral cross to a "bishop" in a heretical "church" is not "nil". It is cause for scandal and it confuses weak Catholics like some on this forum, to think Anglican clergymen have valid orders.

Pope Francis gave a rosary to Obama (who happened to immediately passed it off to Pelosi), but he did not give Obama a pectoral cross.

Pope Benedict never gave pectoral crosses to lay heads of state, why did he choose to give one to a heretic who dressed like a bishop?

“Wrong, again.”

No, I was right. That won’t change.

“The effect of giving a pectoral cross to a “bishop” in a heretical “church” is not “nil”.”

In its effect upon the status of the person receiving it is. The “archbishop of Canterbury” is no more of a real bishop than he was last year. The Protestant receiving a rosary is no more of a baptized and confirmed Catholic than he was before receiving the rosary. That is simply irrefutable.

“It is cause for scandal and it confuses weak Catholics like some on this forum, to think Anglican clergymen have valid orders.”

Nope. First, few Catholics here “weak Catholics”. Second, only an idiot would think a gift of a cross means someone giving it must think the one receiving it is already in possession of valid orders when he, in fact, knows otherwise and acts otherwise by supporting the strictures underlying Anglicanorum coetibus.

But keep embarrassing yourself anyway.
