Our entire congregation voted to leave PCUSA and we now have our own unaffiliated church.
WOW! That’s just GREAT (under the circumstances).
GOOD FOR You!
Ideally, church membership should be able to prevent anti=Christian elements from taking over...... but when they do and it proves impossible to remove them.....
then....
getting out is what I’d do, for sure.
we have to recognize that any human-run institution can go bad (certainly Calvin, or all people, would’ve agreed with that!)....
People leave churches for (often fairly minor) doctrinal differences of opinion ... all the time. Far better, though, to leave whre the basic, core Christian character of those in charge has been subverted and, as here, sincere efforts to correct things have proven unsuccessful.
May God Bless you and your new congregation. I’m confident He appreciates the sincerity of your faith.
"The PCA is one of the faster growing denominations in the United States, with over 1450 churches and missions throughout the USA and Canada. There were over 306,000 communicant and non-communicant members as of December 2000."
Reformed defines the doctrinal beliefs of the PCA, which holds that the purest expressions of scriptural doctrine are found in the Calvinistic creeds, particularly the Westminster Confession of Faith."
We’re on our way out also. Waiting for approval by presbytery.
