See post #40.
came right after #39
When you make a reference to Catholics and priests and comparing it to a time of ancient Rome when such people were trying to be exterminated, expect it to be interpreted in a certain way. I think you are being naive to think otherwise.
except when you refer to priest-killing criminals as beasts that destroy Christians. Then it kinda makes, oh - all the sense in the world.
Whatever misinterpretations may have occurred, the only thing that is important is praying for these two priests and for all of our priests. We know that they have targets on their backs. Stand down, breathe deeply and pray to God our Loving Father in the Name of His Most Beloved Son.
Of course you are very, very right; amen and thank you pbear
Just like if you tried to use an analogy about Nazi Germany in about punishing someone who killed 2 rabbis, it wouldn't work. Because a hallmark of Nazis was their hatred for Jews. So using an empire who had a hallmark of hating Christians, including killing them in unpleasant ways is not going to work. Especially referencing one of the ways they killed them. (I still see people walking around with t-shirts that say, "So many Christians, so little lions)
Under the old Imperial Roman system, temple robbers were thrown to wild beasts.
The priests were not temple robbers, and the early Christians suffered because they were robbing GLORY from the Emperor.
All I can say is, I find it very unusual that you find that period of Rome worthy of emulation. I couldn’t disagree with you more, and most Christians would agree with me.
Please ping and pray. Father Walker was a student of mine.
I posted a Front Page News thread on this earlier today. Prayers for Fr. Walker!
Not sure what happened to the earlier thread, ping!
Prayer away.
I’m so sorry about your loss.
Prayers for the grief you must feel too.
Thank you. However, there are a number of people around me who are even harder hit, so my loss doesn’t seem so bad. His entering class had 16-20 students, and there were only 20-24 students in the school at the time (it was our fourth year), and many of the classmates were very close. One of them now works for the school and today had primary responsibility for routing calls from the press. That was tough.
That would be a terrible task in a situation like this. I remember people answering the phone and taking messages for me when my husband died.
Returning those calls later was so difficult.
Prayers offered.
Lord Jesus Christ, rest the soul of Thy martyr Father Kenneth with the angels and saints. Heal Father Joseph Thy servant from his injuries and give him a long life, Lord.
May the meek inherit the world, and may the wicked repent.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
To make myself clear AGAIN, the murderers of the priest should be thrown to the wolves.
