well, he made a statement not backed up by the facts of his own faith. Did he mistype? I don’t know. He said “We don’t worship Mary”. Catholics address prayers to Mary and ask for her intercession. I copied the “Hail MAry” and posted it.

Maybe he does know what he is talking about. I’m not a mind reader. But to say Catholics don’t worship Mary is incorrect.

I didn’t plan on returning to this thread until I saw your comment. If someone makes a factual assertion that is demonstrably false, what are we to do?

So, you engage in debates but when someone disagrees with you, you snitch them off. Nice.

On the Religion Forum, the main guideline is to discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal. Discuss the message, not the messenger.

The reason is that flame wars ignite easily when the subject matter is deeply held religious belief.

If you said "Catholics worship Mary" that would NOT be "making it personal." However, if you say "You worship Mary" that would be "making it personal."

Worship in Catholicism is the mass. Praying to someone is asking them to pray for you to God. The word pray means ask, as in pray tell me sir.

The one billion Catholics and one half billion Orthodox Christians know the difference.

But to say Catholics don’t worship Mary is incorrect.

One would have a hard time in Bible times explaining kneeling before a statue and praising the entity it represented in the unseen world, and as having Divine powers and glory, and making offerings and beseeching such for Heavenly help, directly accessed by mental prayer.

Moses, put down those rocks! I was only engaging in hyper dulia, not adoring her. Can't you tell the difference?
