Islamic prayers to be held at the Vatican

For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Francis issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas, Peres, and Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders, a statement released by Peres’s spokesperson said, according to the Times of Israel.

Holy See officials on Friday said the evening prayers would be a “pause in politics” and had no political aim other than to rekindle the desire for Israeli-Palestinian peace at the political and popular level, according to the Associated Press.

Low expectations

The Vatican will broadcast a live feed of the event to viewers across the world.

However, expectations for the event should be kept low, according to Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the custodian of Catholic Church property in the Holy Land.

[No-one should think] “peace will suddenly break out on Monday, or that peace is any closer,” AP reported him as saying.

On Friday, the Pope met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and discussed ways of promoting peace and stability in Asia the Vatican said in a statement.

Technically Muslims weren’t mentioned.

Interesting tidbits in this Israeli newspaper...

Not everyone in Israel is as enthralled with the pope however; Rabbi Yonatan Shtenzel told Arutz Sheva on Wednesday that the pope knows where Jewish vessels and treasures from the Second Temple are kept in the Vatican, but is hiding them in an act of "diplomatic evasion."

Abbas and Peres are expected to be accompanied by imams and rabbis and the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I, a top Orthodox leader, could also join in.

The meeting follows a controversial visit from the Vatican, which included a questionable set of political decisions which give legitimacy to the PA, as well as outrage over a rumored deal to transfer King David's Tomb to the Vatican - either in part or in whole.

Good luck trying to get gold and riches from the Vatican vaults.

It’s actually more likely that the First Temple vessels are still hidden around Jerusalem and those would be the ones used in a rebuilt Temple. Probably new ones would be required. Such items would get heavy use.

There would have to be an explanation for where Second Temple items were held through the upheavals in Rome until the Church became a formidable institution, which wasn’t until hundreds of years after the destruction of the Temple.

I guess if he couldn't get Moses's bones, he'll have to settle for David's...

The Bible calls it the false prophet...He will clear and lead the way to the anti-Christ who will unite Jews, Catholics and muzlims in a unified religion in Jerusalem under a 'peace agreement'.

The time is getting crazy close.

There are stories out there where the Vatican is either working on moving to Jerusalem or putting a branch office there where the pope can reside in Jerusalem...

That may be more palatable to the Jews, to keep the throne of David in Jerusalem...And of course we know that's where it will stay...

On a “fourth person of the Holy Trinity,”

Note that many Catholic Marian attributions much parallel even that of Christ:

For in the the Catholic quest to almost deify Mary, it is taught by Catholics*,

Mary was a holy, virtuous instrument of God, but of whom Scripture says relatively little, while holy fear ought to restrain ascribing positions, honor, glory and powers to a mortal that God has not revealed as given to them, and or are only revealed as being possessed by God Himself. But like as the Israelites made an instrument of God an object of worship, (Num. 21:8,9; 2Kg. 18:4) Catholics have magnified Mary far beyond what is written and warranted and even allowed, based on what is in Scripture.

In addition, although (technically) Mary is not to be worshiped in the same sense that God is worshiped, yet the distinctions between devotion to Mary and the worship of God are quite fine, and much due to the psychological appeal of a heavenly mother (especially among those for whom Scripture is not supreme), then the historical practice of Catholics has been to exalt Mary above that which is written. As the Catholic Encyclopedia states, "By the sixteenth century, as evidenced by the spiritual struggles of the Reformers, the image of Mary had largely eclipsed the centrality of Jesus Christ in the life of believers." (Robert C. Broderick, ed., The Catholic Encyclopedia, revised and updated; NY: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1987, pp.32,33)

The practice of praying to departed saints and Mary was one that developed, helped by pagan influences, for Scripture provides no example of any believer praying to anyone in Heaven by the Lord, and reveals that doing otherwise was a practice of pagans, including to the “Queen of Heaven.” (Jer. 44:17,18,19,25). The Catholic Encyclopedia admits that a further reinforcement of Marian devotion, “was derived from the cult of the angels, which, while pre-Christian in its origin, was heartily embraced by the faithful of the sub-Apostolic age. It seems to have been only as a sequel of some such development that men turned to implore the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. This at least is the common opinion among scholars, though it would perhaps be dangerous to speak too positively. Evidence regarding the popular practice of the early centuries is almost entirely lacking...,” (Catholic Encyclopedia > Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary) Yet, as expected, it imagines this practice came from the apostles and NT church, but which never exampled or instructed it, and instead showed that the believer has immediate access to God in the Divine Christ, (Heb. 10:19), who is the all sufficient and immediate intercessor between God (the Father) and man. (Heb. 2:17,18; 4:15,16) To the glory of God

Is not the pope the final arbiter of Catholic doctrine? Inerrant and all that? Sorry, but praying to satan is now official Catholic doctrine.

Only when infallibly speaking according to Rome's infallibly defined scope and subject-based criteria. And RCs are enjoined to provide implicit assent of faith to infallible teachings, religious assent of mind and will to even non-infallible teachings, which seem to be the majority.

But even then RCs cannot be sure how many infallible papal pronouncements in all there are, as well as those by the bishops in union with the pope (who does not need their sanction). And both what magisterial level a teaching fall under as well as the meanings of each can be subject to some degree of interpretation.

This all is based upon the unScriptural premise that an assuredly (if conditionally) infallible magisterium is essential for determination and assurance of Truth (including writings and men being of God) and to fulfill promises of Divine presence, providence of Truth, and preservation of faith, and authority. (Jn. 14:16,26; 15:26; 16:13; Mt. 16:18; Lk. 10:16)

And that being the historical instruments and stewards of Divine revelation (oral and written) means that Rome is that assuredly infallible magisterium. Thus those who dissent from the latter are held as being in rebellion to God, even though under this model the NT would be invalidated, which did not begin under this premise of perpetual assured magisterial veracity, but upon Scriptural substantiation in word and in power. To the glory of God.

All of which is probably more than you wanted to know.

If you’re Baptist, and the head of the Southern Baptist Convention comes out and announces he’s gay, are you going to stop being baptist? Of course not.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14)

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you," (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Actually, you leave such a church for another pasture, or the church leaves the denom that supports this, or treats prosodomite abortionists as members in life and in death. As Rome does, showing her faith by her works, but where can a RC except to sects or schism?

Abraham’s first son, thru adultery, was Ishmael - father of the Islamic line.
Abraham’s first son thru marriage was Isaac - father of the Jewish (and hence Cheistian) line.

Question is whether the bastard is disqualified of ancestral headship. And hence confusion reigns.

A detailed reading of the WORD will yield:

Ishmael was the son of Abram not Abraham.

Sara did not trust YHvH and gave HaGar (the foreigner) to Abram.

But YHvH breathed His breath (Ru'ach) (the letter heh) into him and
changed Abram's name, because he became righteous.
YHvH also changed Sara to Sarah by breathing His Breath into her,
Sarah then conceived Isaac.
Abraham's only son.

I concur....Isaac was Abraham's only son. If I recall he is referred to that way three times in Genesis.

Pretty clear on this one.

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

This has dedicated the Roman "church"
to haSatan since it was first written and spoken.

OBTW Allah is not the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
