Really? Then how come every protestant I talk to, when presented with an opportunity to do a charitable work instead uses it as an opportunity to conduct a secular, social engineering experiment? In other words, they won't give the beggar a dollar, but drag the beggar around and force them to do their bidding in order to get some food. It's social engineering/conditioning of a perverse sort and it's not charity and it's not Christian.
The protestant adopts this attitude because they've been conditioned by a secular society to regard the beggar as a scam artist and they bought into it.
Get better friends. Maybe your friends are in dead prot main line churches.
Hang out with Evangelical Protestants who Know Jesus.
