Without assuming the speed of light is constant, what direct evidence do you have those 'remote' galaxies having been there for billions of years? Excuse me? Assuming that a fundamental constant of the universe is not a fundamental constant is a non-starter. The laws of physics (God's laws) are absolute and invariant--we cannot change them through "assumptions."
