I am very comfortable with the sign of peace. Justin Martyr wrote of it as part of the mass in his apologia to Caesar.
What distresses me is that the Lamb of God is always begun before everyone has finished with the sign of peace.
“I am very comfortable with the sign of peace. Justin Martyr wrote of it as part of the mass in his apologia to Caesar.”
So, they shook hands in the same way we do?
I second, THAT! Very hurtful. To actually have to use the Lamb of God as a que to stop the endless glad handing is a just heart breaking development.
I have to blame the priests for lax teaching, from RCIA, up the line, to the Catholic schools, and the lax bishops.
Sadly, even the priests are ill formed in rubrics and have joined in with the over the top glad handing.
