More than 4 million Latinos in the United States have left the Catholic Church since 2010, according to a new Pew Research Center survey that spotlighted the church’s ongoing exodus of Latinos, a group seen as pivotal to the future of Catholicism.
In 2010, two-thirds of Hispanics (67 percent) in the U.S. were Catholic. Today, that number has dwindled to 55 percent of the nation's 35 million Latino adults. While close to 20 million Latinos still identify as Catholic, the church has lost 12 percent, or 4 million Latinos in the U.S. over the past four years alone, according to the Pew study released Wednesday.
At the same time, the share of Hispanic evangelicals rose from 12 percent to 16 percent, while Latinos with no religious affiliation increased from 10 percent to 18 percent.
The new survey confirms a concerning worldwide trend for the Catholic Church, which has been losing followers for years, and is the latest indication the church is particularly losing followers among its strongest base, Latinos in the U.S. and in Latin America....

As long as they start attending a Protestant church, then they become better voters, but if they just quit having any religion, they keep voting like their Catholic counterparts.

Actually Protestant Hispanics voted 56% republican in 2004, and 48% republican in 2008.
I’m not aware of numbers for the Evangelical Hispanic vote.

With the news out of Mexico it sounds like they’ve abandoned God.
Once people realize they can read the bible for themselves and don't need a priest or a pope to tell them Gods words, they naturally turn toward the protestant faiths.
That's a lot of Hispanics to have sat in the one bench ....
The future of Conservatism is not going to be found amongst Hispanics of any stripe. No amount of pandering by the likes of Boehner and Rand Paul will change how the majority of Hispanics vote.

I’m going to venture why this is true is because of the “liberation theology” in socialist Latin America, and prevalent in the Catholic Church. It’s an increasing influence here, also.
Protestant Hispanics voted 44% republican in 2000, 56% in 2004, and 48% in the perfect storm of 2008.
I would say that they are in play.
I’m not aware of their vote being tallied for 2012, are you sure that you aren’t just quoting polling during the campaign?

It’s the Catholic Church, or abortions, pop culture and the liberation politics of hate. Besides, the further left they go, the more government becomes their god.
