Do you remember the gasoline rationing? EVEN and ODD days for driving. I vaguely remember them.
I’ve always been amazed at people who believe that the Jews will rebuild the temple, the “holy” place so that a prophesy can come to past. If the Jews build an exact replica of the temple of long ago, it will never be a “holy” place, it will never be the temple of God because God has to make it holy, and the church is now the temple of God. The curtain was split, the physical building is forever over.
Neither am I.
True.
Now, just recently the religious Jews asked for permission to build a synagogue on the Temple Mount, and something like that is possible (technically) without touching the Dome of the Rock. However the political situation right now is that no one in the Israeli government would even touch that - because of the on-going Oslo Accords (for the last twenty years).
BESIDES ... the indication in the Bible is that a Temple will be built on only part of the Temple Mount and other parts of it (namely the Dome of the Rock) will stand side-by-side with it - both being there at the same time.
Well put!
When the court got restless, they returned to Amon, leaving the Dome and Jerusalem abandoned until much later when some Imam decided that the mosque Muhammad ascended to heaven from (”the far mosque”) had to be in Jerusalem, even though Mohammad was long dead before the Dome was built, and in any case, everyone long had agreed (the imam's decision not withstanding) that “the far mosque” was in Mecca - where Mohammad met his assassins. The farce continues ...
In order for this to be “Breaking News” there would have to be bulldozers smashing down walls up there.
Now that is funny...
Should at least get a plug in for the actual Temple Institute web site:
https://www.templeinstitute.org/
Forget all the biblical stuff...that they are destroying a mosque and building a temple is good news enough...
“Many High Ranking Israelite Officials are declaring that the al-Aqsa Mosque (Dome of Rock) has to go, NOW!”
What??? Every high ranking Israelite official is well aware that the Dome of the Rock is NOT the al-Aqsa mosque. That mosque is an entirely separate building which also is situated on the Temple Mount and is the mosque used by Muslims for their prayer services.
As to building a third temple on the temple mount, attempts have been made to do so many centuries ago but failed during construction attempts due to earthquakes. Perhaps a message from the Triune God.
It’s listed in “current events” not “breaking news”. Actually, I didn’t know there is a “breaking news” in the religion forum! But, if I ever see a pic of a bulldozer, wrecking ball... on the Temple Mount, I promise to post it.
If they bomb the Iran nuclear sites, they might as well go for the gold. Things will be seriously messed up for a long time and as long as the bee hive is kicked might as well grab as much honey as you can.
Hugh and series!
I am inclined to think a tectonic sift - an earthquake. There is a fault line through the area of the Dome of the Rock.
ANY Israeli as well as millions of Arabs and any visitor to the site knows that the two are separate structures. This glaring error compromises the credibility of the article.
Having lived for years in the Middle East, I can tell you that if the al-Aksa mosque or the Dome of the Rock were seriously damaged or destroyed it would unite Muslims worldwide in determination to destroy Israel.
Given the present-day geopolitics of the region, however, it would likely not result in Arab armies attacking Israel as in previous wars. Egypt, the main component of any invasion, is currently preoccupied in reigning in extremist factions, and is not in a position to mount an invasion. As for the other nations bordering Israel, Jordan is impotent as usual, and Syria is wracked by civil war and lacking capability. Hizbollah in Lebanon would likely rain missiles upon Galilee, provoking a strong Israeli response. Likewise, the south would be vulnerable to missiles from Gaza, which also would be suppressed by the Israelis.
The situation, however, could change radically should events change in the nations surrounding Israel. Look to Egypt, the kingpin in any Arab attack. The other wildcard is Turkey, under Erdogan this NATO-equipped Muslim state has turned hostile to Israel. Full disclosure: I am a published author with a dozen books on biblical topics - with two books coming out next year, one of which, To Gog and Magog: a Memoir, deals with an archetypal malignant threat lurking in the Central Asia, periodically striking out from its lair to wreak havoc upon the world.
Could he have given us at least one name of a High Ranking Israelite Official?
Do Israelis care to be called Israelites?
I don't know myself, it does sound funny in the modern context.
