Why do you lie

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie, it attributes motive, the intent to deceive. It is "making it personal."

Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

If that doesn't mean bible alone then alone doesn't mean alone...

I think the nub of the issue is this: There is TRUTH in the Bible (we both believe this). Can you get this truth only through the Roman Church or will the Holy Spirit reveal it to you if you ask?

The Protestant tradition has fallen grievously short of Jesus' prayer to the Father record in John 17.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Sounds like a Protestant. The Catholic version would have to be 'Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth and so is the anything else not recorded in Your Word but attested by an infallible human. Get your indulgences here, got to build a cathedral and shave some cash for the infallible human.'

Not what he says at the end of the Gospel.

Can’t you even acknowledge that I am right?

>>Didn't you recently post this SAME Protestant-bashing propaganda here?<<

Catholics don’t post “Protestant-bashing” threads. Didn’t you know that?

“You cannot take an isolated verse and prove anything.”

tell that to Iscool and that pablum he is offering up for “the Bible alone”

Scripture is pablum to you eh??? CynicalBear just posted another verse telling you the same thing as 1John 5:13...And there are others as well...

The claim was that Deut 4:2 was out of context and the Scriptures were offered to show that it is impossible for the Torah to be out of context with Jesus Christ.

What's the difference between incense and pews, then? And on whose authority do you draw that distinction?

So, are you saying the Catholic Church did indeed determine the contents of New Testament canon, but, in so doing, they were merely following after Judas, Balaam's donkey and Herod? I hope you don't really mean that.

NO ONE can surpass God's word - whether spoken directly by Him or as the Holy Spirit carried along the holy men of God who spoke His word and wrote it down for perpetuity. I know Catholics sincerely want to believe that their Pope and the magesterium have ultimate authority over sacred Scripture, but they SO do not. The church is and has always been in subjection to the word of God. His word is our only objective authority no matter what men imagine contrary to that.

That talks about reaffirming their anti abortion stand. They also did the same thing later in the late 1970’s. It says that abortion kills a developing person.

I don’t want, or not want, one book or another to be part of Scripture. Scripture is what it is. Rather, the question is: who has the authority to determine which books are in and which books are out. Where is that list?

>>how about the word “alone” that Luther inserted after the word “faith”<<

You sure do ask a lot of questions without answering mine. What’s up with that? How about you show us another provable source for what the apostles taught.

“What a weakling your god is.”

blasphemy

remember xone - God will not be mocked and someday you may have to answer for mocking another faith.

I asked first - just show me the words “the Bible alone” then and only then will I answer you question.

But it will have to be tomorrow - goodnight all.
