Sorry Bishop, but you know not what you speak of. The ACA is an abomination.

What place does this have in the role of a Catholic Bishop?
To: BlatherNaut
“Bishop Gerald Barnes of San Bernardino urged the faithful of his diocese to sign up for health insurance.”
Give me the book, chapter, and verse for that, Bishop.
If it comes from Mao’s Little Red Book, I’m not interested.

Reason is that I won’t have anything to do with the catholic Church except education.

For a man of the cloth to stand up and say something like this...means he wants it both ways, right?
Ask the gov to stay out of religion YET publicly shoots his mouth off about this “O’Care” travesty!!
Really?

The US Catholic bishops have been at the forefront of the push for amnesty and socialized medicine. I guess that’s what comes of never having earned an honest dollar in your entire life.

Bishop: The Lord wants you to sign up for Obamacare even if the premium is double what you paid before.
Parishioner: But that means I won't have enough money to tithe.
Bishop: Well, maybe the Lord doesn't want you to have health insurance that badly after all . . . . . .

I can’t respect a “bishop” who pimps for Obama. Pimping communism is not his job.

From the article:
However, these factors do not mean that we, as Catholics, should disobey the new health care law, Bishop Barnes added. If we happen to have an insurance plan that includes services that are objectionable to our faith, which most plans in California do, our response is to not utilize these services
The Affordable Care Act is now part of civil law and as faithful citizens we are obligated to follow it. I've only been to San Bernardino a couple times so maybe something has changed, but if not, I wonder how often this same Bishop tells the faithful to turn themselves in to the INS because they're obligated to follow the civil law.
Sounds like a Cafeteria Bishop to me.

Really; Jesus could have used the Good Samaritan parable to push universal health insurance, and He didn’t. As an omniscient God, He knew that 2000 years later would be discussed on the ohter side of the Atlantic Ocean, and He still didn’t endorse universal health insurance...

As you may know, the Affordable Care Act requires that all legal residents of the country carry health insurance by April 1 April Fools Day

During the Spanish Civil War, a dozen bishops, nearly eight thousand priests, and many religious Sisters were executed by the communists between 1936 and 1939. Most were offered their lives if they would give up their faith, and there is no recorded instance of any accepting the offer. I believe the Catholic Church is the true Faith; it has some very imperfect representatives. We’ve fallen very far from the time when eleven of Christ’s apostles (our first priests) accepted martyrdom for their faith.

Cardinal O’Malley refers to those who disagree with his stance on amnesty as xenophobic. I highly suspect that he and Bishop Barnes are on the same sheet of music - dancing with the democrats.
