The Southern Baptist Conventions top spokesman for moral and public policy concerns says Russian President Vladimir Putin lacks moral authority to criticize Western countries for abandoning Christian values.
It really kind of makes my blood boil when I hear Vladimir Putin claiming to be pro-family values, Russell Moore, head of the SBC Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission said in a Feb. 19 podcast titled, Is Russia really a pro-family values nation?

What recent victories does the SBC have under its belt? I can see where they are coming from, but guys, you have to start winning some of these fights.
We know what Putin is but it doesn’t hide our own stains.
I would not say “best bet” (still very legal to be gay in Russia), but the SBC has been quite liberal of late themselves and now look like hypocrites.
What has happened to the Southern Baptists lately?Seems like they have lost their way.
Putin is the only game in town for bothering to fight the sodomites at all and the sodomy sympathetic crowd that nurtures it for votes. On the subject, he speaks absolute truth.
Putin can rightly be faulted for many things, but it is a courageous stand he takes drawing a line in the sand on sodomy, in the face of Western pressure to globalize and mainstream the diabolical, literally everywhere. The US even hinges its aid to impoverished countries on the acceptance of sodomy.
Reportedly, Russia (Putin) is restoring the former glory of the long gone Orthodox Catholic Church to the exclusion of all protestant efforts to establish there. Therein could also be much of the rub by the good pastor penning the article.
Certainly his Constantine-all-bad could be a tip off.
I don’t follow the SBC very closely .... what sort of liberal things have they been up to ?
?
He is an autocratic tyrant. He might happen to agree with us on some things, but he is not even close to being part of the family values crowd
Yeah, the Orthodox have done wonders with Russia and Russians for all of history, and yes, I am being sarcastic.
How so? The organization is still strongly conservative.
Richard Land was never President of the SBC, nor was he in any way representative of it.
He was the head of their Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. He seemed to have quite a strong influence from that position, out of proportion with what it should have been.
Not as much influence as all that; just willing to take the microphone!
If the SBC’s sulking, it’s probably because Putin doesn’t show official favor to Russian Baptists the same way he does to the Orthodox. Tough.
or maybe because he was correct
“If the SBCs sulking...”
They’re not.
Correct in what?
