I think televangelism has been a definite NEGATIVE for Christianity in the last 20-30 years. For so many un-churched people, that is their only view of Christianity, and it is devastatingly negative.
I really doubt many people hate Joel Osteen because they hate Jesus.
“And sadly has a FReeper following.”
Appears to be a following of one or two only, though. There’s a daily post EVERY day, but always just one comment.
Jesus was speaking in general for all Christians to come, as well as the disciples in their time. I’ve seen more hate thrown at Joel Osteen on FR and other godly men, than anywhere else I’ve been online. It is a sad day that Conservatives, who claim to be Christians would try to destroy someone working for God’s Kingdom and encouraging the downtrodden as he does. God help them on Judgment Day.
Whatever.
Charlatans both!
...just so we understand each other.
AMEN!

What’s the point of this nonsense?
DB did make some mention of that --- but I'm of mind we should go no further here in discussion of past transgressions (although I do recall that time well enough).
That said --- as to this thread's source as it were, after checking out the guy's video's on youtube, I began to wonder --- is there anyone this one who uses the youtube handle "Wretched" does like?
It's one thing to point at an error or ailment. Bringing cure is yet another.
It is far too easy for any of us to forget;
James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Caucus threads may include debate as long as it is a fight in the family (among members of the caucus) which is to say, no tossing bombs at non-members of the caucus.
If they hate Joel Osteen, it certainly isn't because they love Jesus.
What are Jesus' two Commandments?
Supposedly, we could do greater works than Jesus did when He walked the Earth if we loved each other as much or more than He loves us.
Best not to let our mouths condemn us.
I have seen a number of the “properity gospel” type preachers
Olstein’s message seems more like a “feel good” gospel, in the I’m O.K., you’re O.K., we’re all O.K. sort of vein
As a protestant, I am allowed to say that Joel is a motivational speaker making a fortune off the gullible while offering nothing that can be construed as “Christian” then. Right?
I know, it’s not like we are together on this...ciao
Thank you.
Yes, thank you for the clarification.
If he ever said anything interesting, maybe people would bother with the daily posts
