You CAN fault the church for not taking action in such circumstances.
I know of three separate Evangelical churches where people have been removed from the membership rolls for impropriety.
In two different churches it was for adultery.
In the third church it was for embezzlement at the job.
When the immoral behavior was discovered and not repented of when confronted, the people were removed PUBLICLY in the local assembly, BY THE LEADERSHIP. In the one church the timing occurred so that it was done at the annual business meeting. In another they held a special meeting for it after the morning service.
There's simply no reason why the Catholic church cannot do the same.
I know of only one instance of someone being removed from church membership (this was an Evangelical church) and she was later readmitted to the membership. Most churches seem to be too large and impersonal to know about the daily lives of their members and to hold them to any sort of accountability for Christian behavior.
Pelosi, biden and cuomo are proud catholics and there are enough catholics who are proud to have them, they keep voting for them.. kind of like a vote of confidence on their proud beliefs with regards to things like abortion and gay marriage...
That is your church... maybe their tithes are too good to give up....
