And from the streets of Mexico, here we have BIRDS flying in all directions and dogs screaming at the door to get in, as the faithful Guadalupanos drink to their hearts bliss, sending bombs on bottle rockets, that over the years has killed, maimed many of pour souls, men now are lying all in a pile of wretched humanity. Thieves visit the Villa today, pickpockets holiday. Never been to a brothel that didn´t bear her image, or a tavern that held her in high esteem. She is the lie of the devil, and the birds and dog´s wish they would keep the fire bombs from exploding and scaring the heck out of God´s creatures.

I lived in Mexico City two years.
The ENORMOUS capital of Mexico was a mess then, is now, and will PROBABLY be a mess until the end of time. It has NOTHING to do with anything else but the corruption and unmitigated greed of their government and its politicians.

Mexico City has over 20 million people now. When I was there it was a mere 10 million. For the life of me I can't IMAGINE what it will be 50 years from now.

I remember the TREMENDOUS thunder storms, blackening the sky, the entire downtown area on stilts as the city sunk lower and lower into its own mud, all the beggars, the Reforma, Chapultepec Park and the President's Palace.
Every once in a while El Presidente would come out onto the palace balcony with "El Grito"--that is, the shout: "VIVA MEXICO! VIVA MEXICO!"

It's quite a place. I went back there a few years ago. It was still the same, though a bit dustier. The cops were crooked but as I have gone through life, living in the middle east, in fact, I realized that most third world cops are crooked. They have no way to live because their third world countries pay them next to nothing to live. Heck of a way to have to live.
