I know that there have been significant problems with the Catholic Church allowing pagan traditions to be mixed with the church - epecially in the third world. However, Christmas is distinctly Christian holiday celebrating the Birth of Christ. So, I don’t think that God’s warning to the Isrealites to not become ensnared in the baal worship of the Hittites, Jebusites, Caananites, Amalekites, and etc is really is a fair comparison.
