It looked like a typical Sunday morning at any mega-church. Hundreds packed in for more than an hour of rousing music, an inspirational sermon, a reading and some quiet reflection. The only thing missing was God. Dozens of gatherings dubbed atheist mega-churches by supporters and detractors are springing up around the U.S. after finding success in Great Britain earlier this year. The movement fueled by social media and spearheaded by two prominent British comedians is no joke. The inaugural Sunday Assembly in Los Angeles recently attracted more than 400 attendees, all bound by their belief in nonbelief.

I wonder if they’ll steal many members from ELCA, Methodist and rainbow flag churches. I suspect many attend those because they just like the church like feeling.
And the next step is for the Dems to legitimize these “churches”
What’s wrong with that? If it happened, atheism would have to be banned in the public schools.
Maybe there is some kind of resentment. Not exactly the way I'd like to spend my day.
Other similar organizations — the KKK.
“They gather together,”
How Great Thou Aren’t
Great vid!
As an ignorant superstitious peasant-minded worshipper of the One Whom atheists mock as Skydaddy/Flying Spaghetti Monster/Gigantic Space Octopus, I can only guess what it must feel like to walk around as a random soulless collection of meaningless biomassed cells without ultimate purpose nor destiny.
Or even worse, to be gathered in a huge meeting hall full of other soulless random biomasses celebrating their purposeless meaningless temporary existences.
Oh well, I’ll just go on proclaiming that, Jesus is Lord! As totally unhip & uncool as that is.
Why do they call them churches? They aren’t churches.
Think so? Is Islam banned now, or are students being forced to say Islamic prayers so they can "learn" about other "cultures".
Atheist churches will be taught about so the chil'ren can make up their own minds about religion without the influence of their parents (who might actually be -ACK! - real Christians!!).
“...are springing up around the U.S. after finding success in Great Britain earlier this year.”
Another fine blessing bestowed to the USA from the UK! Not surprised to see this since the UK is leading the West into the abyss of death and destruction.
Time to nuke the island from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
My first thought is with the congregating of such a group, comes a target for prayer and praise to God to ask for redemption and a time for glorified works so they may see Him first hand. As good a place for a revival because they are at least aware of their own disdain for the belief, whereas others don’t even think about it.
Religious people usually don’t get together to mock other religions either, the exception being Islam which often talks about beheading Christians in Mosque.
Or a devival led by the lord and master of slack, Bob Dobbs!
Presbyterians will shortly afterward plus the ELCA Lutherans!
And then they will die.
I wonder where the donations will go?
Sound like opening a bar for AA members.
all bound by their belief in nonbelief.
HUH?
Not any more. I got a belly full of Methodist leadership as an elder.
