I agree, the Church was astonishingly passive on the matter of same-sex “marriage”, even though it makes a mockery of a sacrament. But then, considering some of the priests coming out of the seminaries in the last 30 years, maybe it’s not such a surprise!
Ooops, meant to include this:
Try to remember that Mass is about you worshipping your Lord, not about any one priest’s particular homily.
You obviously weren't in attendance at my parish, where we had homilies and handouts every Sunday declaring the Church's opposition to the perversion of marriage (this was prior to the vote in Washington State -- the subject still comes up from time to time in the homilies).
What planet are you living on?
Catholic leaders reject Obamas support for same-sex marriage
President Obamas words today are not surprising since they follow upon various actions already taken by his administration that erode or ignore the unique meaning of marriage, said Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York, president of the U.S. bishops conference, in a May 9 statement.
We cannot be silent in the face of words or actions that would undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society, Cardinal Dolan added. The people of this country, especially our children, deserve better.
