That provides no excuse, as the PTDS doctrine includes praying to angels, while after the Lord's resurrection heaven abounded with believers, yet there is still not evidence of anyone praying to anyone in heaven but the Lord, and the Lord's own instructions on the manner in which believers are to pray specifies it is to Father God, and the Holy Spirit directly prays to God, and the believers immediate access to Him is made clear, and Christ alone is set forth as the all sufficient, able and available mediator in heaven btwn God and man.
Yet as Scripture is not the supreme authority for Catholics, and actual Scripture warrant is not necessary for her doctrines, thus she teaches traditions of men as doctrines, and then abuses Scripture by trying to support her tradition by it, but which at least makes her deception more manifest.
Drive up Pike’s Peak!
Their shock will begin at the beginning of the rapture, when they see all those bodies rising out of graves, meeting the angels in the clouds.
That’s not a nice thing to say about priests.
I really don’t have any nice things to say about priests, frankly.
>> “I thought I was dyin at 12,000!” <<
.
I’ve XC skied at 12,000.
Never been there...But I have spent considerable time camping in a tent at the top of one of the Beartooth Mountains in Montana...Over 13,000 feet...Awesome...
There is nothing here that indicates or teaches that angels were prayed to, or even knew all the contents of the golden censer. The offering up of incense was an O.T. ordinance, and in Rev. 8:3,4 it appears to be a memorial unto God, and does not signify that the prayers needed an angelic postal service, much less heavenly secretaries, nor do the finite saints under the altar inquiring about the day of judgment (Rev. 6:9,10) support the Roman Catholic position.
It is time for Catholics to cease supposing that since angels serve God, and even if departed saints have some function in glory, then this supports praying to them, for this has no support, and instead what is abundantly supported and uniquely exampled is prayer directly to God.
There are also going to be a lot of true believers shocked when they leave this earth to meet them in the air also.
RCs engaging in ecclesiastical elitism, replete with ostentatious names and clothing, and then exhorting humility for others is indeed a paradox. But what is that picture from?
There will be many "pleasantly surprised" Christians in the "scoffers crowd" who are taken up in the Rapture. I imagine there will be a huge sigh of relief as they understand that the wrath of Almighty God being poured out on the earth without measure wasn't ever meant for the Bride of Christ. That they denied the Rapture will not negate the grace of God.
“What of it and why should I?”
So how did you become a Christian if you were never part of a denomination?
Why doesn’t CB answer mine?
“Can you pick and choose which doctrines to follow?”
Have you read Nicaea? Read it, get back to me.
“That’s nonsense”
Right.
“And which version.”
First ecumenical council.
“You guys and the Orthodox can even agree.”
Every protestant denomination, and the Eastern Orthodox, and the Roman Catholic church accept Nicaea.
The only folks who consider themselves Christian who do not are the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witness. Why? Because both of them reject the fact that Jesus is divine.
I refer you to my post earlier referencing Lumen Gentium.
Fellay was excommunicated for EENS.
Most Christians are quite willing to share their faith and their church.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18 - Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lords word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Well, I’ve already answered your question. It’s in the Apostles’ creed, which we have documented evidence going back to the Fourth century.
You keep assuming that ‘absence of evidence = evidence of absence.
We don’t have an original copy of the Gospels dating back to the first century. So, by your own standards, we have no evidence of a connection between the Apostles and the Gospels.
It’s a simple question.
Do you believe we can pick and choose doctrine?
