The words of God stand forever. Not one jot or tittle will pass away. Heaven and earth will pass away but the word of God will never pass away. The practice of writing down the revelation of God was in force WAY before there was a church in Rome - before Christ even came to earth there were the established Holy Scriptures. The words and teachings of Jesus - while here as well as after he ascended - were enscripturated so that ALL believers would have an infallible and objective source for the rule of the Christian faith long after the Apostles were gone to their heavenly reward. That's really what the "canon" meant - a rule of faith - and it contained the written documents inspired by God to holy men who He directed to write His words. It is utter nonsense to claim the "church" is older than Holy Scripture. Your subtle twist of words notwithstanding, the Bible is simply the collection of the books that are Divinely-inspired and ordained by God to be recognized as FROM God and given to man. The writings that make up the New Testament were added to the already established collection of books inspired by the SAME Holy Spirit and the Apostles handed over to the churches the revelation from God as each book was completed and, because they came from the Apostles, their authority was accepted. Those who refused to accept the authority of Scripture were ostracized by their church unless and until they submitted to the rule of faith as defined in Scripture.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the "Power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes". The Bible has intrinsic authority because Holy men of God spoke as they were moved along by the Holy Spirit, it does not derive its authority from men who presume to be above the word of God. As long as the church remains the buttress and support of the truth as God has revealed it to us in His word, they have a mission and ministry of reconciliation. When a church perverts the Gospel, they no longer have a part in this work of God and, instead, are accursed by God.
Still no answer, you seem be the only one “chatting away” tot he ticking clock.
You'll have to excuse my ignorance of religion but I do not even know what the Vedas are............
Thats the tactic of the RCC also. Put just enough truth in to get someone to think the rest must be legit. Catholics do that all the time. Your talking to someone who thinks the RCC is the whore of Revelation so take that as an indication of what I think of the RCC and their teachings.
Ive seen most of your posts. Dont come crying to me.
Advising you to be interested in your final destination is ‘an error’?
It’s not ‘an error’ but a waste of time telling it to the deceived.
“The saints in heaven are not dead. They are fully alive,.”
I am aware of that, and God calls them both dead, and living. So it is true to say they are dead, and it is true to say they are living.
When I say they are dead, I mean, dead as defined by Scripture. No real reason for either of us to make hash of it.
The "Bible" contains more than just the books written after Jesus' resurrection (the OLD Testament). You acknowledge this, right? Some of the Epistles in the New Testament were written years before the Gospels but the Gospels are the written testimony of what Jesus said and did while here on earth as the Holy Spirit brought back to the remembrance of those who God commissioned to write the accounts. Jesus' teachings learned by His Apostles and disciples were taught around the world and those SAME teachings were written down, also under leading by the Holy Spirit. That is exactly how the believers in the centuries after those first believers died could still know the correct doctrines that make up the rule of the Christian faith. Whatever the church teaches MUST line up with what Holy Scripture says else it is not holding to the teachings delivered to them by word and by writing.
Therefore they MUST be mighty busy!
For me; I'll let others DO THE WORK of sainthood; thanks anyway...
Simple: do the math-—
How many saints has the RCC created?
How many Catholics are on the earth today?
I see you got the same answer I did. ;o)
Perhaps if the truth is not acknowledge, the fabricator can claim “plausible deniability” and continue to say things known to be false?
I am NOT aware of what kind of BODIES these saints have; since the Scriptures are clear that Flesh ansd Blood will NOT inherit the Kingdom of GOD.
There can't be any thing spiritual going on (of course we know that just from the conversations)...Appears to be like an insurance agency...They pay their fee or whatever and they're good...They're covered...Nothing to worry about...
Their agent recommends they confess some sins to God at least once a year...
Most of them for the last decade here on FR scoff(ed) at the idea of a personal relationship with Jesus...They don't even know what that is...Most of 'em don't even own a bible...Hard to wrap my mind around the idea that a Christian can have no interest in what God has to say about anything...
No, I certainly don't. There eventually were many Christian churches (assemblies) in Rome (it's BIG city), but even up to the Council of Nicea the Roman Catholic Church as it exists today was NOT in existance. Therefore, the Apostles - including Peter - were not members of the Roman Catholic Church - that's just revisionist, wishful thinking.
The Catholic Church
Catholic actually means "universal." It was a common adjective applied to the Church/churches in the 4th century. It is a mistake to assume the word "catholic" was a reference to the Roman Catholic hierarchy, which did not exist at the time of the Council of Nicea.
The Council of Nicea made a number of decisions that give us a clear picture of the authority of Rome at the time. Those decisions are called "canons." Canon VI reads:
The extent of the jurisdiction of the bishops of Rome, Alexandria, and Antioch are not exactly given, except for the bishop of Alexandria, but they were clearly not universal.
There is extensive evidence that there was no "pope" in the Ante-Nicene Church. Thus, any references at or before the Council of Nicea to the "catholic" Church or "catholic" churches are simply references to the Church universal. http://www.christian-history.org/council-of-nicea.html#sthash.72k1NhbB.Wsn3kgES.dpbs
Around 600 or so
approx. 1,180,000,000
Therefore, each ‘saint’ has about 2 million souls they have to service.
Some of these ‘saints’ are not well known at all; so they get off a little easier I imagine; while other SAINTS have quite a reputation; so they probably get a lot MORE stuff sent their way.
If only one in a hundred Catholics send a prayer request to Saints CEntral Clearinghouse, that’s about 20,000 requests for help each day - per saint - on average.
833 an hour
14 a minute
about 4 seconds per request.
Yeah; I guess a saint could get all that done.
(Since there’s reported to be no night there; I guess they don’t need to sleep or any thing like that. It would just waste valuable time that they COULD be intercedeing.)
The bible is not a logical book...It is a spiritual book...
You were given a biblical answer by CynicalBear but apparently it doesn't appeal to your man made logic...
God sees all things, past and future...That doesn't mean he's living all things all the time...
Jesus is not participating in the 2nd Coming at this time...He is waiting...You get that?, waiting for the times (yes, times) of the Gentiles to be fulfilled...
A little bit of bible study will clear up all of those quirky ideas your religion teaches you...
We are the saints of the church triumphant...And we have a direct phone line to God...
Definitely, I won't go anywhere near the "smoking section" of eternity
