I realize this thread is about the Mormons but i am against all man made religions, not just the Mormons.

I can not stand any religion who think they are the only Christians, i can not stand those who think God gave them authority to rule the world, Jesus said his people are not of the world so why in the hell would we think we could run it.

If we are running the world we are of satan, not God.

If the Mormons still practiced polygamy i think i would look at it different but they don,t. I believe polygamy is an issue only as long as it is preached and practiced as a religion and i have never heard any one publicly preaching the right for plural wives.

(a) A Mainstream Mormon leader -- Lds "apostle" Bruce McConkie -- said polygamy would resume when the Mormon jesus comes back. (That is elevating it as a lifestyle...McConkie referenced it as a "holy practice")

(b) Mainstream Mormons do "preach it" so to speak within their policies, claiming eternal polygamy for men who marry multiple wives in their temples.

(c) Mainstream Mormons do "preach it" because its original "revelation" on the subject -- Doctrine & Covenants 132 -- was never rescinded.

(d) The "cousins" of Mainstream Mormons -- the fLDS -- are Mormons, too. And they BOTH "preach it" AND openly live it.

One thing we can be thankful for is that they can not live it with out a lot of willing women.

Did you know that back in the late forties or early fifties i am not sure because at that time i was not concerned except that i remember that i wished i was a little older.

The German women were asking the American women for the use of their men. the headline was

American Women, may we borrow your men.

When there are a shortage of men or women either one, people can change their minds in a heart beat.

And i believe in days gone by it was that type of thing that sparked polygamy.

The difference in Mormonism is that it was not done out of that type of need but out of one mans desires who turned it into religion..

After having said that i want to make it plain, the religion part is the only part that i could not go for under any condition.

My own issueness of it lasts a bit longer than that; since it is indelibly imprinted in MORMON 'scripture'.

Whether the 'religion' NOW practices or preaches it is of NO concern at all; for in CAN be picked up again IN AN INSTANT!

I think one thing we can agree on is the 10 commandments although we may have a little difference of opinion on the exact meaning.

Let's see:

To WHOM were they given and NOW to whom do they apply?

That's the cover story Mormonism has put forward.

A little checking PROVES that was not the case at all.

Shortage of WOMEN?

In New York in the 1830-40 period???

You'll have to make it still plainer for me to understand you a bit better.

As far as this one, i think they do not understand an inner garment is not something you wear.

No need to study at length; when I'll put a picture in the thread...

and am not going to study them at length.

Well; you are participating in a thread with folks who HAVE 'studied them at length', so you're going to get a LOT of information to peruse, without you doing a lot of digging to find out for yourself.

Many former Mormons have expressed appreciation for the effort put forward by Christians of various backgrounds, trying to break thru the Mormon Curtain of disinformation and history suppression.

No thanks Elsie, if i want to find out something i would rather do it myself because i would not believe any one who was either partial or impartial because people have a habit of either lying for or lying against.

And even if they are good honest people with no religious affiliation they still can make too many mistakes and cause so much confusion.

Mormons actually use the verses you quoted from Jacob to support polygamy.

“30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things” is interpreted to mean:

“Don’t do it unless God says it’s ok.”
