A Roman Catholic parish priest at an elite French ski resort has been stripped of his Church functions for refusing to renounce Freemasonry.

Father Pascal Vesin was ordered by his bishop to cease his work in the Alpine resort of Megeve, the parish said.

Bishop Yves Boivineau had warned Fr Vesin about his "active membership" of the Grand Orient de France lodge.

Freemasonry has been condemned as anti-Christian and anti-clerical by various popes through history.

Bishop Boivineau ordered the priest to cease his functions "at Rome's request", the parish said.

In March, the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith - effectively the Church's watchdog - asked for the priest's departure.

Which is the Catholics problem, not the Masons. What are you saying the Masons should bar Catholics from joining. Come on ,man there are a number of things Catholics do against the church.....how about getting abortions, murder, all other crimes of man but joining the Mason will get you a ticket straight to hell.....ridiculous!!!!!

He has whole life insurance and annuities through the K of C.

Two of the biggest ripoffs in the USA, regardless of who sells them to you. >>

that is your opinion, you should know the history of the K of C before you make blanket statements.

Switching the conversation to the definition of excommunication is a red herring my friend and I surly have much to learn but I know when someone has run out a defense for an indefensible argument. It appears you also have much to learn!!!!!

This is all I have to learn.

Therefore the Church’s negative judgment in regard to Masonic association remains unchanged since their principles have always been considered irreconcilable with the doctrine of the Church and therefore membership in them remains forbidden. The faithful who enrol in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion.

Sorry, not intending to diss the K of C. My blanket statement was regarding horrible financial products, not the K of C.

Many of these ripoffs are sold through farmers and other organizations that have nothing to do with religion.
