We’re leaning towards a head injury because of the bonk on Sunday but the vet kept scaring us with worst case scenarios.

She doesn’t stomp but has a funny gait due to her puppy hood injuries.

She sort of ‘casts’ with her front legs because her depth perception and stereoscopic vision are sub-normal.

Today, she went from running outside to not wanting to moeg at all.
Then at the vet, she went from not moving to pulling me around the parking lot but with a strange leaning-into-turns with her head motion thing going on.
It’s really hard to describe.
Think of a kid playing ‘airplane’ and banking into turns with his arms, except she was doing it with her head and neck.
Never seen such a thing in my life.

It looked like severe vertigo or something of that nature.

She eats the same or similar foods all the time and though I never give her people food, hubby does.
[but I bet he won’t anymore]

FReeper prayers -always- help.
Somebody can probably find her original thread where she was nearly dead.
She is a miracle, already and that’s what makes this so heart wrenching.

Salamander, I fervently hope that your little Halla comes out of this problem. I'm wondering, did she bang her head a good one because her gait is already so imprecise? Could there be bleeding in the brain?

Hoping for a complete healing for your little girl. Been there, done that. Anyone who gives me that ol' "but it's an ANIMAL, not a child!" is an unthinking fool. For many of us, a pet is all that G-d granted us and they ARE our child.

Our Schnauzer, Dougie, started having twitching in his shoulders and resisted being touched around his shoulders.

I don't remember how we came about the answer but we did.

When we got Dougie, we put the harness from my other dog that had just died. I was so brokenhearted because I had such grief and I didn't know what was happening to Dougie. As it turned out Dougie as a puppy could wear the Morgan's harness but he grew a little bit bigger than Morgan was and the harness was constricting his upper body.

We got the harness right off as soon as we realized what might be happening to his shoulders. The left seems alright now. The right seems a little sensitive so we are careful around that side of his body and will keep watch on it.

When I adopted Morgan, he had one shoulder muscle that was weaker and not conformed the way it should be. The vet said it could have been an accident during birth or maybe his nerve was damaged by kids, other dogs, etc.

Our critters can't tell us the problem, but look for any signs, like you noticed the way Halla walked in the parking lot, and make sure your vet knows as soon as possible any time you see any kind of change.

Well, aren't I being chatty?!

I pray for Halla and for you and for all dog owners who have had the wonderful joy of being a dog owner!

Take care....

Salamander,

Mr. h and I adopted a cute Chihuahua/Dachshund mix.

When we go to Mr. Wiggles and call out his name, he twists around and around like a circle. At the same time, he lowers his head. Very passive.

We don't beat dogs, but Mr. Wiggles may have had something in his background.

Go to Calm.com with your pup beside your side.
