I assume the same applies when one spouse or the other has an adulterous relationship

There is a considerable difference between homosexuality and the sin of adultery. When heterosexual adultery is committed, the person sins against his spouse, and the adulterous union is unholy. But the act itself is natural.

Homosexual acts are never holy and never natural.

When a heterosexual act is committed, even in fornication or adultery, the act itself conforms to the way God created man and women. The act is complementary. But when a homosexual act is committed, the person is turning away from the glory of God's creation in the complementary nature of the sexes, and turning towards an image of himself.

I was once told by a fundamentalist "preacher" that all sins are equal. That cannot be true; it would be a sin against justice to count the theft of a paperclip the same as the murder of a child. Some sins are greater than others. And so it is with homosexuality. Adultery is a grave sin, but the homosexual act is an abomination.

“But when a homosexual act is committed, the person is turning away from the glory of God’s creation in the complementary nature of the sexes, and turning towards an image of himself.”

One can say homosexual acts are the most extreme form of narcissism. Which makes sense considering we live in an extremely narcissic age. It’s also completely closed to any possibility of a new life that might come to faith in Christ being created.

As we read in the Sermon on the Mount, Christ tells us that sin begins in the heart, thus lusting after another to The Lord, is the same as committing adultery already, and hating to the point of wishing your brother dead is the same as murder.

All sin separates us from God, whether it is hating our brother or lusting after another, according to the words of The Lord.

According to the Ten Commandments, the first five commandments are against God alone, the last five are against our fellow man.

Sexual sins, regardless of their nature, are against our own bodies and we are told we are made in God's image and that our bodies are holy, so sins against our own bodies show that we devalue ourselves and thus God.

The sin unto death is denying Christ.

Jeff, this is interesting:

"When a heterosexual act is committed, even in fornication or adultery, the act itself conforms to the way God created man and women."

This is true, and adds to homosexuality yet another layer of depravity.

But I would note that when heterosexuals contracept, the act no longer conforms to the way God created men and women. It is an active and intentional rejection of God's design as inscribed in the body.

Contraception and sterilization are similar, as well, to the sex-change project: transsexualism. They involve using drugs, devices, and surgery to change the normal, natural, functional body into something which is abnormal, unnatural and dysfunctional in the sense of being procreatively disabled.

Contraception, transsexualism and homosexuality are all way over on the spectrum of rebellion against the way God created our bodies.

Agreed. There are sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance. Sodomy is one of them.
