He doesn’t have store hours.

No need to be coy. Just say that you do not believe in auricular confession despite what Scripture teaches. Show us what kind of a spine you have or are you simply an invertebrate?

"Amen I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind upon earth, shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose upon earth, shall be loosed also in heaven." Matthew 18:18

"When He had said this, He breathed on them; and He said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained." John 20:22-23

"If then any be in Christ a new creature, the old things are passed away, behold all things are made new. But all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Christ; and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. For God indeed was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing to them their sins; and He hath placed in us the word of reconciliation. For Christ therefore we are ambassadors, God as it were exhorting by us. For Christ, we beseech you, be reconciled to God." 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

"Is any of you sad? Let him pray. Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing. Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much." James 5:13-16

....”Just say that you do not believe in auricular confession”....

Better said, I believe that Jesus Christ is our High Priest, and He is always willing and available for whatever we need to confess...and it is He who forgives...and He who paid the price that we might have forgiveness.

The veil/curtain that separated the people from God was torn in two opening the way into the very presence of God...that we might enter “boldly” and that by the shed blood of Christ. He is our Great High Priest now and forevermore.......

Since this is so, why confess to a man who is a sinful creature, even if called a Priest, when I can go to Christ himself?

I understand that some people believe they need, or that their faith/doctrines requires them to seek forgiveness through the established Priesthood of their denomination/church...... and taught such from the time they are youngsters. I don't share that belief. I believe Christ is more than sufficient, able and willing that we come to Him....and again....He is available to us 24/7...and there are no loose ends...for HE knows our heart and our very thoughts and motives.
