The left is confident of crushing the Protestant Christian presence in American politics because they see that the Catholic voters will eventually take them to total, absolute victory.

That would be far too much over-stating the case...if not for the Mexican immigrants (chiefly RC or nominally Catholic) for they have been effectively co-opted for reason of their own selfish desires (to be in the United States instead of Catholic Mexico).

As it is, it's only over-stating the case "a little". But crushing the Protestant Christian presence in America IS the goal, and a goal many Catholics seem not unhappy with (for it crushes protestants!)

..if the Left can't just win by corrupting religious persons, as some significant portions of mainstream fully Protestant (compared to say, Baptists, which don't tie themselves so much to the Reformation) have apparantly been turned "progressive" liberal, then they seek to fully destroy, and have been making "progress" towards that over-arching goal.

The strange thing is RC'ers will frequently rush to proclaim their own liberal wing or members are "CINO's" but not extend that same type of identification towards liberal Protestants whom have greatly deviated from their own sects founding principles. Ending up with "that's not what the church teaches" as deflection away from what the church membership in fact does.

The results, compared to the lefties in some protestant denominations, can be very similar...but only the lesbian lefties among the Episcopalians seem recognized as church-sanctioned leftyism.

Catholics have always been democrat voters while Protestants have always been republican voters.

Hispanic Catholics aren’t changing that, since they only recently got here in large numbers the effect that they are having is keeping the Catholic vote in it’s traditional place, as the dwindling whites in the denomination, have in recent years become a little more conservative.

Besides, whether white or Hispanic, they still belong to the same denomination, in fact Mexico has always been an almost purely Catholic nation, similar to when the United States was almost purely Protestant.
