With Ninja angels in ancient Sodom, the highly publicized TV miniseries "The Bible," which made its national debut Sunday night on the History Channel, does not always stick to Scripture, despite being produced by two famous Christians and having numerous biblical experts as well as Texas megapastor Joel Osteen advising on the project.

Yes it did but some were too bust nit picking to catch it. It even showed a man embracing a sheep in his arms. The scene is BEFORE the angels get there and is in the darkness which is where sin thrives. Lot was tested. Some questioned why angels would ask for Lot's help. They could not even grasp that even though The Lord told Abraham the people would be tested. Only Lot helped the angels which is Biblically correct.
This nit picking gets worse. Moses a man who for years was a shepherd in Saudi Arabia's mountains is accused of being a Manson look alike by some of our enlightened who just had to find something, anything wrong. What would they expect? Moses in a suit and tie? Now others have turned it into an Obama look alike fest over a man who has played characters in several Biblical based films because some say the character of Satan looks like Obama. That has become the center focus instead of the movie message. That picture ends up on just about any religuos thread right now. Some feel it needs posted several times. This movie was being made BEFORE Obama was even elected. Others were in a fit because The Lords clothing was dirty. This was Israel 2000 years ago. Dust was everywhere. But it was something to nit pick about. Yippie.
Personally I think they've done a great job with this movie and week three was really great. Yes there were persons of many colors and many races in The Bible including the man Phillip preached too and the man who carrier The Lord's Cross. I certainly have not seen even one scenes even remotely blasphemous but I'm certain some of our legalistic Pharisees in here will.
The movie was written to get persons to think about GOD and their salvation. But some want it to be a theological boondoggle so complex no one could watch it. IF Joel Osteen was an adviser he was likely one of many. I suppose if Billy Graham and The Pope had been advisors also Oh we would have 100 threads hashing that issue out. I'm not a fan of Olsteen he is not his dad by any stretch. But some in the day also condemned The Lord for whom he associated with now did they not? Considering the trash on TV these days this movie is a very welcomed change. It actually makes one think. I wonder how many condemning this movie turn around and watch Southpark etc.
Casting Noah with a Scottish accent, we’ll let it go. BUT OMG’S SAMPSON WAS NOT BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!
“A guy at work here is still upset that Samson was portrayed as black in this show.”
I’m not upset about this portrayal of Samson, but merely puzzled as to why; as likewise about the messenger telling Mary about her impending motherhood somewhat resembling a Roman soldier, and Joseph being approximately twenty years old, or younger.
But now that I have learned about the involvement of Osteen I am much less puzzled.
Let's begin our remedial class: There were no swords used by the visiting angels. They supernaturally struck the inhabitants blind, and then fled the city.
I am not the one pitching a fit because of an Asian “ninja” angel or a dark skinned Samson. I am the one noticing the outrage seems to only go one way. The Jewish people of the Bible looked more like, and were genetically more similar to, modern day Arabs than to any European. If historic accuracy is the benchmark they should have cast a bunch of middle eastern jews and arabs.
I'm still upset they made James West black in "The Wild Wild West" movie.
LOL
“Crap” is cussing and crude language?
Does it really matter? These are actors playing parts. Actually by the time of Sampson it could be very likely ones in the twelve tribes had already married into other tribes. I doubt they could find actors who had the Hebrew accent of the day. The ones who made the film are from the UK. Many of the actors were from Europe. BTW the guy who played Sampson did a fantastic job. So did the man playing Moses. Noah? Have you listened closely to Roma Downey? Mary had an accent also. Gee I wonder why? It just couldn't be a movie unless the actors all spoke proper USA English and were Lilly White.
Picky, picky, picky. So a little flare, half the Bible deals with how your imagination interprets the words. Go worry about Obamacare instead...this is a great show, stop dissing it...if you don’t like it go watch American Idol like the other low IQ people.
I didn’t see the show but I have no problem with an Angel being portrayed by an Asian. I have no problem with Samson being portrayed as dark skinned but I have a suspicion that he was portrayed as a Negro which would be inaccurate and purposely so.
In other words they are trying to deceive us.
What really disgusts me are the people saying anyone who notices what they are doing is nit picking. It is OK for them to do it but not OK for us to notice.
I am just pointing out the nitpicking seems to be on a double standard.
Casting a European as a Semite is A OK apparently.
Of course it is, some of the worst, as a plumber I would not use it in front of my customers, actually I don’t use it in private either.
Can someone PLEASE give me the Bible verse that says Sampson was NOT black?
In the same place it says that the Apostle Paul was not a used car salesman.
Some forget Samsom married outside of his tribe as well.
Well, I’m glad you.
Racially very PC... a very few but some blacks were in the bible.. but most blacks were brown..
The show is very PC in that way.. putting blacks where they weren’t is poetic license..
BUT; sad to say many blacks wouldn’t watch this series if there no blacks in it..
Many/most blacks are that racist.. but indeed some whites wouldn’t watch because there were JOOOOS in it..
Not a Palestinian to be found.. but there were a few Philistines..
Who pretty much believed what the so-called “Palestinians” believe today.. i.e. Moon-God..
Well done show... not history but entertainment..
and for the most part presented fairly well..
pretty amazing in today’s PC environment..
Rick Warren? Hello....
