Of course there were other Christians. The Catholic church acknowledged their existence by ending it.

no there weren't....who would they have followed, these were the 12 hundreds...there were no bibles except those handwritten by the Catholic Church, and they were mostly in libraries....if you were not a Catholic you had probably never even heard of Christianity....there was no Christian "competition" at the time.....if you were Christian, you were Catholic. If you weren't Catholic, you were probably either Jewish or nothing

Hey metmom, I wonder if John and Paul had library cards.

When John completed Revelation he must have handed over to the Catholic's then, to hand write. And appears they didn't like it for some reason.

there was no Christian "competition" at the time...

Christians always had an enemy with tentacles and still do today: evil. It spread itself and formed Catholicsm/Islam/Mormonism/Buddism - and many other flavors to suit anyone taste. Satan lays the bait and whoever grabs it, he ropes them in with man made teachings and twisting of God's Word.

The Holy Spirit always teaches that which can be confirmed in the Word as Truth. Isaiah (8:20) plainly says 'if they speak NOT “according to this Word,” then they are preaching things of darkness'.

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak NOT according to This Word, it is because there is no light in them."

Jesus preached to thousands in those days.

Many of them became Christians, not Catholics.

There were no Catholics back then, only Christians.

All Christians are part of Jesus' catholic...universal...church.

Putting a big C at the front only waters down Christianity for those that wish to see the Catholic denomination as containing all Christians, with none exist outside of it.

Jesus taught something different from that.

there was no Christian "competition" at the time

And there is none now.

Except for JW's, LDS, Islam (which Pope declares has the same God as Christianity.)

(Those are NOT Christian, reading the Bible closely should confirm that for anyone truely seeking God's word, praying to the Holy Spirit for guideance)

Christians don't compete for prominince, they love one another.

Catholism is attempting to be seen as the ONLY proper "church" and the rest of Christians....well they aren't unless the join the "Church."
