I don’t understand the idea of spiritual hostility. To be hostile towards what someone believes or says about anothers belief makes no sense to me.

To what...someone believes...about another's belief. To be "hostile" towards all of that...uh-huh.

Expressing opposition to what people communicate here, on grounds they oppose "others", still leaves one in opposition themselves.
