It is very common.
Actually have never had a mormon or those who say they are just defending mormonISM answer any question directly.
There is a video on youtube, which is a sixty minute lecture on how not to answer questions.
In brief, it is a lesson on how to answer questions that should have been asked, not what was asked.

There is no Satan individual but there is indeed a hell.

That's not even counting the rest of Holy Scripture that thoroughly demolishes the false construct that a being called Satan does not exist. I think he is actually delighted when people think he isn't real. That way he can get away with so much more. Don't be deceived, he is like a roaring lion walking about seeking to devour you!

No doubt.He can then deal out his so-called power to high-minded men and at the same time let them operate under the delusion that they have special 'whatever' and that they wield that so-called power rightfully.Because they're so smart,have secret knowledge,are privy to all sorts of secret schtuff.Satan offered all that to Jesus (Luke 4:6) and was rebuked for it but men lap it up and are puffed up with it,not realizing where it actually comes from.

I’m not trying to be mean here, but after reading all the stuff their “prophets” have said over the years, how things changed from one thing to its opposite and how quirky some of the rules are, I have a hard time believing that intelligent people fall for this nonsense. We almost elected as President a man who actually KNOWS all this stuff and has no problems at all with believing it and sinking his entire family into it all their lives. If who we got instead of him wasn’t such a disaster, I would almost think we dodged a bullet as a nation. Why, how, can people who can think fall for this??? The only answer I can come up with is SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS. No other answer works for me.

544. People in the world still believe that there is a devil who rules the hells and that he was created as an angel of light but was cast into hell with his gang after he led a rebellion. The reason for this belief is that the Word talks about the devil and Satan, and about Lucifer as well; and in these cases the Word is understood literally. However, in these passages the devil and Satan mean hell. The devil means the hell toward the rear where the worst people live, the people called evil demons; and Satan means the hell that is toward the front where the less malevolent people live, the people called evil spirits. Lucifer means the people who are from Babel or Babylon, the ones who extend their control all the way into heaven.

We can also see that there is no devil to whom the hells are subject from the fact that all the people who are in the hells, like all the people in the heavens, are from the human race (see 311-317), that there are millions there from the beginning of creation to the present day, and that everyone there is the kind of devil he or she became by opposition to the Deity while in the world (see above, 311-312).

You got that right! Satan IS called the "Prince of the Power of the Air" (Ephesians 2:2), the "Prince of this World" (John 14:30; 12:31) and the "god of this world" (II Corinthians 4:4) and as such he has has power with which to deceive and beguile those who are drawn to power. Very few who fall in with him do so without knowing full well the bargain they are striking and it astounds me that they STILL do it. The idea of eternity is pushed to the back and living for today is the mindset. How easy we make it for him! Though there is nothing intrinsically wrong with wealth, I think there are few people that can handle it with the grace they are given by God to use it for HIS glory and not their own. That's why Jesus said it would be easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven.

Jesus often used figurative/symbolic language, even parables that related a truth using it, but when he spoke of actual persons and places, he spoke LITERALLY. I think it is a cop-out to relegate everything to being symbolic because it then makes NO truth absolute. It is the whole idea behind existentialism - what's truth for you may be different from me, and vice versa. Truth, then, becomes relative. Is this what you believe? Is there NOTHING that is absolute truth in your faith?

Usually when Jesus gave a parable, he explained it afterward. He would even let certain people ponder on what he could mean without explaining the point to them. He told his disciples his reason was so that:

The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables:

“Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. (Matthew 13:10-17)

However, Jesus did not always speak in parables. There were many times that he spoke plainly, plain enough that even little children could understand His teaching. When the writers of the gospels wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit to tell all about what happened to Jesus - such as His temptation in the wilderness - they had no need to use figurative language to describe the things He endured. That's why when I gave you those Scriptures about Satan being rebuked by Jesus, he was NOT rebuking "the hell that is toward the back/front" but THE Devil/Satan.

What you are following is NOT a new church or even a new doctrine, it is older than the earth. It has popped up in numerous places and times all throughout the world. It started with that very person, the fallen anointed cherub called the Devil, the Serpent, Satan. He was the one who started the whole "Gnostic" idea that knowledge was esoteric, relative, symbolic. That there was no knowledge that was absolute truth, that could be known for a certainty. He said to Eve, "Did God really say...?" and he got her to question God's meaning behind a clear command. That started the fall and he has done little to change his tactics over these millennia - why should he, they STILL work. I plead with you to not be taken in by his deceit. God's word is trustworthy - all of it. It is a light unto our paths. Keep it shining on yours!

I’m not here to argue. Get Heaven and Hell and just read it with an open mind. Man’s understanding and technology has advanced in 2,000 years - men wrote the Gospels and the entire Scripture (except the 10 commandments). Jesus is God and every utterance was in correspondences of apparent truth as received. I believe the Heavenly Doctrines to be the third testament in the preparation of the New Jerusalem. I’m not asking you to believe it, also. I took it as Bible commentary until I read enough to become convinced.
