We desperately need some sort of persecution to shake the bishops and blow away the chaff.

I don't think persecution would work because the hierarchy is more Democrat than Catholic. And they are true Democrat believers!

Well you could be wrong, I do predict persecution for the Christian faith in general but in a special way against the Catholic Church and that will shake up things.
