“LOL - Catholics saying Mormonism is POLYTHEISTIC. What a joke.
Last time I checked many Catholics pray to Mary and claim to have VISIONS of Mary and Mary talking to them and COMMANDING them to do things. Couldnt Mormons make the same claim that the Catholic Church, with their Mary WORSHIP, isnt true Christianity for the same reason that it reeks of Polytheism?
I for one think you should get off your HIGH HORSE and accept that there are Christians of many views, denominations, history and background.
Mathew 7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them...
Every Mormon Ive ever interacted with have been, or at least tried to be good, GOD FEARING people. They believe in large families, they are GOOD TO THEIR children and their communities are strong. God is obviously in their lives.”
~ ~ ~
I am not on a “high horse”, I am stating facts concerning
Mormonism. You defend non-Trinitarian Mormonism and their obvious non-Christian beliefs while you put down Catholicism.
Again, no one “worships” Mary. God alone is worthy of worship. There are other kinds of prayer. A prayer of intercession is one of them. You accept you can intercede for loved ones to God, then, why can’t you see the saints in Heaven can do the same?
Mary doesn’t “command” anyone to do anything. When all
Christians are united in one belief, you will better understand and accept Mary. MO, you will love her very very much. I am sure right now BEFORE the 2nd Pentecost and the unity of Christianity, there has been an exception, Mary appearing to or giving a message to non-Catholic Christian.
Commenting to one falsehood of Mormonism, their POLYTHEISTIC
belief declaring Catholics are polytheistic too is nonsense. No mention of any of the other LDS doctrines spoken of in the article I posted? Is it, they are too far out there...crazy.
You’re the one that said “in Rome” friend in speaking of Christianity in 100 A.D. All the “denominations” of non-Catholic Christianity came after their split from the
faith.
“Soon” says Heaven, we will all be one in belief, no more
“denominations”, how happy this will make God so please, remember.
Your last comment, we are all sinners yes, but if Romney, the Mormon we are talking about is truly a man of God, why
did he legislate two grave sins, abominations in God’s eyes? There is record. He has increased abortion with RomneyCare and Mitt still declares there are three exceptions to killing a baby in the womb~~!! And #2, he legislated and continues promoting sodomy~!
Yes, how exactly was Jesus begotten? Please use scripture and cite your verses/sources. Just like a real scholar!
Slow down your typing, use spell checker or type out your comments in Outlook or Word and it will make those corrections for you. There’s no reason to accept sloppy scholarship. You can improve and be better. I know it!
Originally, SZ made the false assertion that Jesus Christ could not appear to Joseph Smith given the inerrancy of the Bible and as evidence he cited Acts 1:1-11 specifically verse 11. He got it wrong. I showed him why in excruciating detail. The proof is complete and it is supported by http://niv.scripturetext.com/luke/24-50.htm and http://bible.cc/mark/16-19.htm
Here’s that post: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/2920216/posts?page=84#81
Study it, but take your time and open your mind. Your posts indicate that you are approaching your scholarship with a hypothesis in mind and then working to prove it despite the facts. Look beyond your limited comprehension using all your powers of concentration and discernment. Use the Bible itself, Biblos is particularly effective in this kind of work: http://www.biblos.com/ Forget what your seminary teachers have indoctrinated into you. Read it with your own mind. Then, once you’re ready, we’ll discuss Jesus’s Ascension until you get it. We will relate how it is possible that Joseph Smith privately saw Jesus and endured the presence of Heavenly Father using Biblical truth. Once you get it we can move on to the Trinity, Original Sin or any other misinterpreted Biblical doctrine you’d like.
Right now let’s just focus on SZ’s original question. I need only show that it is possible, Biblically possible. That it is probable is a personal faith question I leave up to you.
SZ, courtesy ping as you are mentioned in this post.
This painting was a significant change in imagery. Jesus here ascends of his own power and not by the help of angels.
You said Mormonism does not teach that Jesus was conceived by intercourse.
I provided the words of the leaders that state categorically the He was.
Now you have asked a different question and avoiding saying you were incorrect.
You 1010 should get an A in the course, which I provided a link to.
Nicely done, that might even elevate you to a big planet instead of a little one..
Are you writing about yourself now 10?
Originally, SZ made the false assertion that Jesus Christ could not appear to Joseph Smith given the inerrancy of the Bible and as evidence he cited Acts 1:1-11 specifically verse 11.
No, the evidence is very clear given the inerrancy of the Bible - the context speaks very specifically - provided you clear your mind of its preconceived fallacies, and recognize that nothing smith claimed to see - although he couldn't keep his story straight.
Perhaps you should read the bible 10- clear up your misconceptions.
Apologies for the “delayed” response, but there were more pressing matters in my personal life than FR. The time off has given me plenty of time to cogitate on this topic and I will simply state this...
As an ex-mormon, I am intimately familiar with the inner workings of the religion and when compared and contrasted to Christianity, I can find no compelling reason to cease arguing against the teachings of mormonism.
I stand by my original assertion as found in The Holy Bible and I put my complete faith and trust in God and The Holy Bible. Not a plagiarized, error filled work of fiction copyrighted by a known con man and adulterer.
I will not engage in semantic games of wordsmanship as they relate to mormonism. It is the work of the devil to parse God’s Word and to not rely upon what is written...be like the Bereans.
In any event, it is but only one aspect/component of the whole argument against mormonism since the religion is rife with too many other contradictions, heresies and false prophecies to rely on this one argument against mormonism and JS’s obvious lack of credibility.
I am but a slowly curing jar of clay.
Best,
SZ
I’m sorry to hear about your troubles and hope that everything will turn up well and work out fine for you.
