This week ELCA Bishop of the North Texas-Northern Louisiana Mission Area, Kevin S. Kanouse wrote a blog (see here) calling those who support Chick-fil-A bullies and he blamed preachers (?) for people going to show their support for Chick-fil-A. This after the widespread temper tantrum and bullying from liberals and homosexuals against Chick-fil-As president for stating he believes in the Biblical view of one man, one woman marriage. Notice, too, that the ELCA bishop disparages the preachers by placing a question mark after referencing them, apparently implying that he questions whether they are true Christian preachers.
ELCA Bishop Kanouse mockingly wrote that the faithful flocked to the chicken bastion of moral godliness to feast on chicken sandwiches. . .
Later, Bishop Kanouse said, In truth our country celebrated a national day of bullying last week.
And Bishop Kanouse, proving that he doesnt understand or respect Scripture much at all, made this statement, . . .the bullied. That's another word, like homosexuality, that Jesus did not utter as recorded in the New Testament. . . (read here)
One of the main points Bishop Kanouse tried to make was his belief that Jesus would not have been inside Chick-fil-A. No, he was not about sit-ins and causes. I say, that statement and thought is not an honest and true portrayal of the Biblical, historic Jesus.
Bishop Kanouse is part of a denomination which calls homosexuality good. Because of that, and the ELCAs twisted view of the Bible, many in the ELCA do not like when Christians hold to Biblical Truth (and apparently when they stand up for one another when the world tries to bully Christians for their beliefs). You are wrong, Bishop Kanouse, if you think Jesus would not have supported the words of the president of Chick-Fil-A and the thousands of people who showed up to support the company who was being bullied for their Christian values. Jesus stood up for what was right. He chased the moneychangers out of the temple, he sternly warned others who were leading people away from Gods truth, and among many other instances, he supported the actions of Mary when her sister Martha complained about her.
Bob Russell said this in a blog he wrote, Did Jesus condemn John the Baptist for speaking out against a politician? No. Jesus said Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11) (read here)
After reading drivel like Bishop Kanouses blog and hundreds of ELCA articles like it, it is easy to see that the ELCA is a extremely liberal church that does not understand and in many ways despises Bible-believing, Christ-following Christians. Unfortunately many ELCA leaders also have a one-dimensional view of Jesus which changes Christ into a social justice leader and not much of a Savior.
I prefer the Orthodox tradition, but thanx to my RC brothers.

With all the acronyms in the news these days, I shouldn’t have to Google ELCA to get it’s meaning.
But excuse my ignorance. WWWWW&H.
Living in MN, I have contact with several good Christian women of the ELCA. I am in a mixed bible study group of Catholics and Lutherans.
One of our now deceased members had a legacy in her will for the local ELCA church, but shortly before her death the ELCA came out endorsing Gay relationships and Gay ministers. My friend changed her will and withdrew the legacy.
Another friend told us this month that she and her husband have changed to a more scripturally based congregation which is not Lutheran. She and her husband had finally had enough of the riduiculously liberal actions of the ELCA, This was difficult for her as she was raised Lutheran, and it was like abandoning her heritage. But, she has been faithful to her parents’ faith, than the ELCA. In the end, one is either a faithful Christian, or one is not.
A third friend and her husband who are conservative are still attending the local ELCA, but while at their lake cabin near Brainerd, they attend a small, Mo. synod Lutheran church and they are enjoying the more orthodox Christian sermons. It will be interesting if they stay in the ELCA church this winter.
The ELCA has been practicing invidious sex discrimination, picking and choosing denominational favorites in its how can we get the world to like us better repudiation of Bible injunctions like those in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, . . . nor adulterers, . . . nor homosexuals, . . . will inherit the kingdom of God.
Since extending its post-August 2009 welcome to Pastors Bjorn and Cindi, who solemnly attest they are in ELCA-approved publicly accountable, life-long, monogamous same-sex relationships with their respective partners, how can the ELCA deny the same effusive approval to, say, Youth Pastor Joey, who vows that his fornication with live-in girlfriend Tammy will be life-long and monogamous? Marriage is so yesterday, say these thoroughly modern sophisticates and their circle of friends.
Similarly, how can the ELCA turn a cold denominational shoulder to, say, Pastor Ted if he swears that his adulterous relationship with church organist Marjorie will be life-long and monogamous? After all, its not Teds and Marjories fault that their balky spouses have refused to grant them a no-financial-strings-attached divorce, and those donations and membership numbers at Teds church *have* declined rather precipitously since the August 2009 ELCA convention.
(For that matter, how can the ELCA subjectively exclude from its pastoral ranks the unrepentant idolators, thieves, revilers, drunkards, and swindlers also named in 1 Corinthians 6?)
If the ELCA really wants the worlds unstinting approval its been earnestly seeking for decades, it needs to wholly expunge 1 Corinthians 6 from its Bibles and pledge total fealty to the worlds theres no sin in any kind of consensual sex creed. Its clearly time for another sin-whitewashing, Bible-bowdlerizing, lets-be-even-more-inclusive ELCA convention vote.
The next step for the liberal protestant clubs (NOT “churches”) is polygamy and “open marriage”.
But the REAL question is whether and when large numbers of their members will “come to themselves” (as in the parable of the Prodigal Son) and return all the way home to the Orthodox Church!!!!
