...Romney keeps his focus simple: fix the economy. But others are fixated on something else: his faith.

Some call it a cult...
Yet Mormons call themselves Christians, which raises eyebrows, especially within evangelical circles.
Shawn McCraney is a former Mormon who now hosts a show called, 'Heart of the Matter," where he witnesses to Mormons in Salt Lake City.
"...I didn't know the Lord and that led me to an internal angst."
"What happened was I came to realize that there was nothing I could do to get myself right before God -- where with Mormonism...it's you have to do it," he explained. "He gives you the opportunity, but it's up to you to perform, and I couldn't perform."
...any controversy over a Mormon president may...center on...whether Romney would put loyalty to the Mormon Church ahead of anything else.
Former Mormon and author Michael Moody has written the book, Mitt, Set Our People Free...
"When I was a little boy, the Mormon prophet was a more important man than the president of the United States," Moody told CBN News.
"Mitt Romney has knelt in the Mormon temples," he noted. "He has taken an oath of consecration. He has taken an oath of sacrifice. He has said that he will sacrifice everything that he is, and give all of his talents, and everything that he has and is to the Mormon Church."
...Moody said a Romney victory would be a big deal for the Mormon Church.
"If Mitt Romney gets in the White House, it's going to be a sign to all of the Mormon people that they're on the right path, that this is the truth, and it's going to help perpetuate their missionary program. It's going to put the Mormon Church in a more powerful position..."

If there is a cage fight going on the outcome is interesting enough to hope the bully loses without placing a bet or buying a ticket. Thoughts on the fight is not contributing to the prize.
Our country is facing its gravest existential threat since WWII. It’s not a “cage fight.”
Based on these posts, the next time I want to know about the Christian faith, I’ll just ask a Mormon.
I bet they’ll be more kind than “Christians” are to them.
Mormons know as much about Christianity as they do
Mormonism.
Why not study Mormonism yourself however before you do please tell which parts of the words of Mormon leaders and the direct quotes from the Mormon writings do you have disagreement with?
Nicely stated
Interesting twist of perspective. Colon has been hi-jacking the religion forum to attack the politician for at least weeks now, yet I seem to have missed your pointing out the misuse of the religion forum. Not surprisingly, you can’t see that it is doing the same thing again with this thread. This thread is designed and aimed at attacking Romney, and occasionally the thread poster tosses n a few facts about the ISM, so the hi-jacking of the religion form to make political attack appears to be soemthing it isn’t.
Oh. So you want Obama to stay in office for four more years. If not, how is this going to help get rid of him?
I will point out the misuse of the Religion Forum as soon as I see it.
When will you be just as agitated by the anti Christian comments directed at people who expose Mormonism as you are at those who expose just Mormonism.
No...but if THE "anti-Christ" was an (R) running vs. the Dem guy, a reincarnated Hitler ... (or reverse the parties for those two characters)...I wouldn't stop my critiquing of one just because you somehow see a slight "edge" in the other)
Yes they do - except maybe for the ‘alone’ part. There they believe in what the leader of the followers after Jesus was killed, taught.
James 2:17
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
And who was James, this leader? He was the blood brother of Jesus and leader of the followers until he was killed in 62AD - then another brother(may have been a 1st cousin), Simeon was the leader - it was a blood line succession.
As to the Mormons and their belief in Jesus - the hymn most often sang in their services is: “I Know My Redeemer Lives” -

They don't believe in the Trinity - a doctrine unheard of for over 300 years after Jesus. They are not the only Christian church who does not espouse the Trinity.
You will never find Mormons vilifying other peoples faith or presuming to know who does and does not believe in Jesus and The Father.
And I respectfully submit that even you, who would, it seems, esteem yourself the holder of God-like righteous judgment over others, do not have the prerequisite wisdom to so pronounce. This country is in great peril. We MUST defeat this devil's servant now in the WH. THAT is the bottom line.
You and your fellow Mormon haters are aiding and abetting the muslim who is determined to destroy our country - and will, if he is is reelected...and if he is, and he does, YOU will have helped him. How Christian is that?
If you don't like Christianity or Christians who will defend the Gospel (or in your words, bigots), why do you keep posting on the religion forum?
Why dont you keep your obsession to yourself.
If Colofornian's "obsession" and religion topics bother you so much, I have to ask you again, why do you keep coming to the religion forum?
(That's a funny comment from someone who imposes upon others that we SHOULD "live and let live." If you really believed this as a bottom-line comment, then you'd have a "live and let live" 'tude about my comments...The fact is, you don't even live your own empty platitudes...You didn't exercise a "live and let live" 'tude toward me just now...And then, to top it off, you expect to be able to impose that platitude upon others -- when you can't even practice it yourself within the very same comment you make???)
Yes, indeed. SAve us from these ‘Godless” people. Just think what could happen to our country with people such as these in the WH. Better we defeat the Mormon and keep the muslim.

La Lydia,
It doesn’t care if Obama wins, this is a hopeless case likely driven by the nearness of the Mayan calendar ending. It feels that if Romney wins it will lead to the rapture and the end of times.
So it feels that the best thing it can do to prevent the rapture is educate and proselytize on the faults of Mormonism.
Born again evangelicals can be strange like that.
“I’d rather have the Mormon than the moron.”
If being moronic was the crux of Obama’s fundamental unsuitability for the presidency of the U.S.A., we would be fortunate. Instead, he is a diabolically clever socialist ideologue, idoctrinated, trained, financed and dedicated to the purpose of Fundamentally Transforming the U. S. A.
Take him at his word, and stop judging him a failure because America has been made nearly totally incompetent and impotent as a nation among nations. To the degree that state of affairs has been achieved, to that extent he has succeeded.

No, we still have freedom of religion here.
But if Obama gets his way, Marxism will become the national religion, and we Christians will be forced to practice our religion in the catacombs.
The Mormons I've known (childhood friends, military connections, and neighbors) have been some of the most patriotic, clean-living, family-oriented, and decent, law-abiding citizens one could hope to meet.
And I respectfully submit that even you, who would, it seems, esteem yourself the holder of God-like righteous judgment over others, do not have the prerequisite wisdom to so pronounce. This country is in great peril. We MUST defeat this devil's servant now in the WH. THAT is the bottom line.
It seems to me that you are rendering a "God-like righteous judgment" in pronouncing that Obama is the "devil's servant". Are you not doing exactly what you accuse others of doing? Apparently, you can render these righteous judgments but others can't? Do you esteem yourself as the holder of that ability? Do you have the prerequisite wisdom to do so?
I actually agree with your statement about Obama. However, would that not extend just as much if not more to a life-long advocate of a false gospel?
